it sounds like you may have an intermittent connection/ broken wire in the steering column, or contacts to wheel. possibly needs a cleaning. YOU MUST BE AWARE OF PROPER PROCEDURES, AS YOU CAN ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGER THE AIR BAG, RESULTING IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH.
The "volume control" on your Aiwa is in fact what is called an "encoder". These can fail. They work in concert with the microprocessor to control the electronic volume control IC. Yes this part can be replaced. Try calling Sony with your model number and request the part number for the volume encoder. They should be able to help.
try the volume if this works then press SELECT to save the code. If not then press TV again then the volume. repeat this step until the volume works then press the SELECT button to save the code.
Laptop or Desktop computer? Is your volume turned up in the Volume control panel and on your speakers? Are the speakers on and plugged into the "speaker" port on the computer?
what os do u have that would really help but if u have xp try this open look at lower right hand corner u should see a speaker or a volume control. right click on it and go to properties or it might say open volume control when it opens make sure nothing is muted or turned way down espicaliy the main volume control if the slider is down trun it up. try that if that dont work we will try something else hope this helps bob
