My TV does not receive any power despite being plugged in. The red light is off. No symptoms either, just out of the blue. No noises or clicking either. Could it just be as simple as the power cord?

Your LCD has gone bad or their is a high voltage problem that powers the LCD. Usually a inverter board.

if you can do soldering work, replace two 1000uF10v bulging capacitor with 1000uF 16v or 25v in powersupply board. you will save $200.

Yes! there are 2 capacitors in power supply 5vdc standby out..recommand repalce with 1000uF 25v.
also one at 12vdc out. same with 1000uF 25v.

There are 3 capacitors in power supply board, all 1000uF10v.
2 for 5vdc and 1 for 12vdc. replace with best quality 1000uF 25V cap.

this is common fault the capacitors have blown on main power board you can replace your self if got soldering iron
take back off tv and look for capacitors that have RAISED TOPS they look like little batteries with white line on one side and numbers (e.g 2000mf 25v ) the best way to remember which way they go back is take picture
you can get parts from charles hyde and sons web site (CHS) under general components or at a electronic shop
