Try to turn the drum by hand, if it hard to turn, there may be something stuck underneath spin basket. If it does turn freely but makes a loud growling sound, you probably have a bad bearing. You should notice black oil and water mixture at bottom of washer, on the rotor. It will usually throw a f51 error code. This unit has service bulletin on this problem.

SOURCE: Washer does not spin

I had the same problem in october- my had a bad wiring harness, some board problem, and a bad sensor. if it hadn't been under warranty the cost of parts alone would have been over 1000bucks.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Cabrio top loading washer F1 Error

F1 means the control board is shot. Call whirlpool and they should take care of the parts and labor even though your machine is out of warranty.

SOURCE: I have a Cabrio top load washer, Model WTW6300SWD

you have a cracked motor housing at the bottom of the machine. lay the machine on its back, remove centre bolt with allen wrench, pull off rotor. Remove four bolts holding the windings. Lift off windings, unplug wires and speed sensor. Inspect plastic housing with windings. You will see cracks. There's your problem
