SOURCE: DVD player recorder won't read or play any disc

This just worked for me. Don't know how long it will last though. I found it on this webpage
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/15118/130292.html

To do a reset:
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key on the remote 3 times,
The Preference page will show up,
Press the down arrow five time to highlight
"default", hit right arrow to highlight "reset"
Press enter to reset. Turn off/on machine, etc.

SOURCE: Why Philips dvd player won't play all dvd movies?

This is not a fault. Some movie burned formats might not support the player.

MY DVD SYSTEM IS SAYING ERR DISC WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM

Does it do this with all Discs? If you haven't I would try using a Different disc one you know works in another DVD system. You can do a couple things if it still does not play a known good disc. You can purchase and run a CD/DVD Lens cleaner disc, or you can open up the player and find the section where the DVD sits and is spun up to operation speed, Look for a Small Glass looking Eye/lens, It will be on a movable carriage that allows the player to read the disc across its entire width, Get a couple Good quality Q-Tips and Personally I prefer 90% Rubbing Alcohol, Take the Q-Tip and soak one end and use that end to clean the lens, then I would soak the opposite end of Q-Tip in alcohol again and repeat the cleaning, Following that Use one of the new Q-Tips to wipe the lens to ensure there are no smudges or alcohol left on lens. Re-assemble unit and re-try playing disc. I have done this oh id say 200+ times on both CD players DVD Players and my Laptop DL DVD recorder and every time I had a Issue of playback Errors this has always solved theissue and the players work like new

Will the lg bd-390 play burned dvd-or+r,s or rw-dvd's?

The LG BD390 should read DVD+/-r if they are finalized. he same is true of DVD-rw discs. However, a lot depends on the burner and software you use for the burn. This unit will only support video mode, VR mode and AVHCD formats. It will also support DVD+R DL discs.

A lot depends on the movie and audio file codecs that you use to burn the disc. For a complete list of discs that are supported, see the manual. It's available here: http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-BD390# .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the software and hardware that you are using to convert and burn your video for additional help.

Lg rht497h won't play burned to disc mp4 files

I cannot find out the supported DVD information of your player. So you may need to make sure what kind of DVD can be played on your DVD player, such as DVD-DL, DVD-RW, etc.

When trying to play a computer generated DVD +R DL, I get a message that says this type of disc cannont be played. please insert a different disc

The disc is probably an incompatible format for this model player. Even if the disc is finalised in your PC, or in a DVD recorder, this player may still be unable to read it. Some DVD recorder/players do not recognise DVD+R (or +R DL) media, while others won't recognise +/-RW discs (except CD-RW); this is a model limitation - not a fault with either your player, the PC burning software or the discs themselves.

Nothing can be done to fix this except purchasing a model which accepts multimedia (+R/DVD-RAM etc). The question is, does your player play ANY normal DVDs? I am guessing your player will accept DVD-R DL discs just fine since this is standard as well as proper shop-bought movies.

My LG DVD RW can not play DVD

Are you sure that your ROM can't play the disc or is it that you don't have a program to play the disc? To my knowledge Windows XP didn't come packaged with a DVD Decoder program; except for XP Media Center. There are some FreeWare programs out there that you can download, or you can pay for the program that decodes DVDs so that you can watch them. If your DVD isn't recognizing any type of DVD that you put into the ROM, then try playing a CD\DVD player cleaning disc in it. If that doesn't work, then you will probably have to get another DVD-ROM.

DVD deterioration

I would blame it on the DVD player. They are fickle when it comes to playing burned discs. Try playing the disc in your computer. If does the same thing there, the disc is garbage. You can also try burning at a slower speed, sometimes this helps. I would also try to avoid using DL (dual-layer) discs.

Dvd player, hd dvd movies

If this is just a regular DVD player, then no. You need an HD DVD player to play HD DVD discs. Now the HD DVD players should play regular DVD discs.

Various LG DVD Player

Some models of PIONEER cd players had radio frequency problems that caused them to work on and off. Are you near any radio or braodcast towers? Poorly shielded power supplies cause this as well. A weak laser diode in the pick-up assembly in model runs could be the problem. You might want to Google the model number and see if this is common for these units.
