This stuff is 'generic' .. just buy a tube off ebay (you don't need 'silver' paste untill you into extream overclocking and 5ml is more than enough for 1 CPU)

Dell optiplex sx280 fans to loud! How do I turn them down?

1) Tell them to be quiet. The kids are sleeping.

2) Promise them a nice quiet vacation in the Bahamas, if they will just be quiet for now.

3) In a firm voice tell them that they CAN be replaced.

OR,
1) Suggest you replace the Thermal Paste on the Processor.
It has dried out.

2) Also clean the inside of the computer out. Suggest it is dirty inside.

(Wuz trying to just be funny................Alan?....................Alan?)

The top of a Processor (CPU), and the bottom of the fined Heatsink that sits on it; are not perfectly smooth.
A magnified view would detail, 'Ridges, Valleys, and Pitholes'.

When the two parts are mated together, Air Pockets are created.

Air is an Insulator in this case, Not a Conductor.
Thermal Paste fills the above imperfections, and is an Excellent conductor of heat.

Thermal Paste dries up over time. Looses it's thermal conductivity properties.

It's cheap in cost.

Can guide you step by step in replacing the Thermal Paste, and also cleaning out the inside of the computer.

Dell optiplex GX280, beep one long, follow by 3 more beeps, then two more.

This is a motherboard problem, if the video Graphics Card is a plug in remove it and test as you go, unplug hard drive, and any other hardware, if at the end of it no change, motherboard will more than likely need to be replaced.

Need drivers for my dell optiplex 330 computer

Go to Dell.com and download factory drivers for your machine there under support and drivers section. This is the best way to go about it. I have owned one of these in the past and this is what I did with it. John

Dell optiplex 240,on startup cannot get into f10 or f12, error code 8602 is on screen. I have replaced keyboard and mouse and still same problem. I cannot get past this point to get to th OS.

if you cannot get into BIOS or boot menu, there's definately a system board issue. as far as i can interprete my findings on the internet i would say the PS2 controller is broken.

you may want to try with other memory modules, but i'm quite sure it's the system board

DELL STARTUP

There was problem at one time with IOGear KVMs not working correctly with the USB chipset on the Dell motherboards. This problem was resolved by using a USB hub between the KVM cable and the computer. The user could take the USB portion of the KVM cable and plug it into a USB hub and then take the USB hub and plug it into the Dell computer. That should help with the problem.
