Hello, I have an RCA standard definition television. Whenever I press the power button, instead of turning on the red power LED flashes (about 24 times) and then stays lit. There is no picture or sound,...

The High voltage Horizontal output transistor is dead. That the transistor sit outside of the wall of the FBT-flyback tranformer is a black block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT-(tv tube) U have soldering iron,a roll of solders and know basic electronic. The "H" trasistor replaced that and resolders the FBT-flyback transformer, should solved this problems.

Picture went off with a bang. Now have blank screen but sound is ok.

thats the HORIZONTAL OUTPUT SECTION , it could be anything from a FLYBACK TO a HOR OUT TRANSISTOR, need to be taken to a repair shop , thanks AJ

JVCAV-N2043TV,Horiontal Output Transistor burns out everytime if fix a new one

Hi There,

The Hor Output transistor is connected to the Line Output Transformer. This transfromer provides a lot of voltages around your TV set but includes the very high voltage to the Picture tube...

These transformers are specially tuned to resonate at a certain frequency,
The Hor output transistor needs to match this frequency....so if the wiring inside the transformer is shorted by "just a bit" the picture will be visible but the transistor is struggling to match the transformer impedance, from the mismatched tuning...so the transistor draws more current from the power supply.. runs hot then burns out...

Usually manufacturers provide a Trip circuit that detects that an overload on the power supply is occuring and cuts the power to the Line output stage ...this is usually detected by a clicking sound within the power supply its called hiccuping.

If some one has altered the correct setting on the power trip circuit then the next thing that happens is the Transistor goes Blooooey like in your case.....

So to save you a lot of money replacing the output transistor
please replace the output transfromer as well next time...

But please... please... re-check the power supply trip circuit to save you a lot more expense in the future....

Best Regards From YUBEUT

32v434t dead

please go according to procedure 1 isolate h/output section supply. 2 check power supply output is ok if not repaire it. 3 after power supply is ok 4 check hor osc, driver &output if problem repair it. 5 check for loose contact or print break. 6 connect supply to hor section. set will work fine. good luck.

No raster no audio,Zenith SJ 2065S5

as horizontal transistor gets very hot so no eht so no raster &no sound due to nosupply to vif & tuner. as hor output is getting hot please isolate supply to hor. section & check power supply output is ok as due to high voltage h/outout may get hot & demaged. if supply is ok check for leaky or short parts in hor output. 1 hor. output transistor itself if it is replaced that may not be of proper matching. 2 diode& cap.in eht section. 3 clean print near eht. 4 moisture near yoke due to rain in rainy season only. so keep it hot for few hours. 5 at last if all are ok eht or fly back transformer. re connect power to hor output after rectification

JVC C-21MU1 / High Voltage Problem

Try checking the filter in the 116v line. You may have an intermittent spike coming through the B+ line.(The filter may have decreased in value) Also a small filter in the X-ray circuit could have lost capacitance. There is a low value capacitor (about .047uf @400v) in the collector circuit of the horizontal output transistor that will detune the horizontal circuit causing the HV to go too high. If this cap is intermittent it may be causing your problem. Stargazer Hope this helps

Toshiba CF3566A

follow the diagram, the base of the hor out should go to the secondary of the hor drive transformer, and going to the primary circuitry you should find a transistor, a small transistor, look for its collector and you should find a filter capacitor, may not be the same value but it is the filter capacitor.

Horizontal output transistor keeps failing

The horizontal output transitor is always connected to the primary winding of the flyback transformer (via collector) and also to the horizontal deflection coil via an electrolytic capacitor. The most likely suspect for damaging the transistor is the fylback transformer. In some countries there are electronic stores that test flyback transformer by winding a few turns on the ferrite core and applying a test voltage. This test will only test the secondary. The primary winding is difficult to test for turn to turn short because the resistance is quite low and you do not know the 'good' resistance.
