Can a microwave fry my router? After using my microwave the router won't start anymore. I reset it many time, change location, check cable, power supply, etc. The router it's about 3m away from the microwave. Seems that the microwave fried my router... (oh, and it was on channel 6, really bad one)
Hi Mircea,
I do not think that could happen, Have you tried resetting the router ?
If not please try that and lets see if it turns ON.
And also try connecting the router to a different power outlet.
Well, might be just a coincidence that gor fried on the same time. The router has no light on, seems that does not have any power on. Try different outlet, testing the charger on a similar router (works perfectly), nothing seems to work. Trying to reset the router, nothing. Might be just a coincidence at the end, not sure. I was hoping that somebody might have similar issues, seems weird anyway. Thanks,
Sometimes Microwaves can interfere with your wireless network that can result in intermittent connection. This is the first time I see such an issue. From my experience i feel it can be a co incidence. Please try this .press the reset button the router for 30 seconds and while you're still holding the reset button unplug and replug the power cord of the router, but you're still holding the reset button.after you plug the power cord back in wait for about 10secs and release the reset button.then turn off the router for 15secs and after that try accessing the set up page again... Sounds funny, but sometimes it does work and its called a Funny Reset :)
Hi Rakesh,
Hi Rakesh,
Hi Rakesh, I tried your method but does not work. Before trying your method it just started to work again, for about 10-15 min then dead again. I change the power again, all seems to bead. No light turning on at all, no reset working (I just press it anyway), nothing. Seems that it's just a dead router and not the microwave. I knew about interferences with the microwave, but was not sure if anyone experience something like this. The router is D-Link DIR 600.

If the powerlight flashes the entire time.. even after a hardreset, your router is probably only good for a brick....

I followed advice that I read on online about how I needed to get into the router settings, but they failed to explain that the default log in and password were "admin" and "password." I finally found it on another troubleshooting site. I got in, but it would not except any changes. I finally gave up.
A couple of ways later, I tried again and when I accessed the router settings it prompted me to change the default log in and password. After that, I was able to make any changes I wanted. Viola' !!!

Yes there's a possibility that the router is dead already because that diag light will only be lit up when there's a hardware failure on it, you can try press resetting the router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds then power it off then power back on hopefully the diag light will be off, if still on you need to replace the router already...
Hope that helps.........

the router u have is a bit old, a router can keep going good if u keep updating it.
to update your router first log in to router
1)open a internet explorer and in address bar type in 192.168.2.1 it will open the page for router.
2) select the tab device
3) select check for update
4)the latest firmware for this device is 3.93.35.0.9
5) if u have lower than this u need to update which would solve your problem

7) now click browse and select the file then click upgrade
hope this will help u
8) it shuld take a minute to upgrade
