The black colors on the screen ae red

Sometimes the picture is perfect, but when the TV is on for longer than 15 minutes now, the blacks turn red, and it is very difficult to watch. I think I read somewhere that this is due to the TV heating up. Can someone please help me walk through repairing this on my own? I can't afford to replace this TV just yet.

Without having the unit in my shop I would have to say it is one of two things. The power supply or the inverter. You will have to find replacement parts online which will be about 50 to 75 bucks.

SOURCE: Iwas watching my panasonic plasma and the screen went green.

One of the "Y" buffer boards have failed. The buffer boards are located on the left side of the set looking from the back. There are two of them. One for the upper half of the screen, one for the lower. Disconnect and replace the one that had the blank portion of the screen.

I have a 2005, 42" toshiba LCD model 42DPC85 that when we turn it on everything is good except the whole screen is black but imediatly the colors dot by dot start making the black disappear, it only took...

You need a new DLP chip. The chip has little mirrors that are black on one side and white on the other side. When the chip wears out , your screen will turn white one dot at a time or black one dot at a time or they may just all stick shut at once. Since your screen is black, all your mirrors are closed. You can buy the chip from shopjimmy.com and they have a video of how to replace the chip so you can do it yourself. It takes about 1 1/2 hours. The chip is about $160. To have this service done for you is about $200. Do it yourself and save the money. Your tv will be just like new again. Just make sure the chip is in perfectly level or when you turn your tv back on, your picture will be slanted. you won't notice it on the picture itself but words on the screen or scrolling messages and the menu will be slanted.

Problem With KENMARK flat Screen TV - BLACKS OUT

you do not give the model number for a better diagnosis
the most common cause of this problem is the invertor or at worse the screen its self.
If it is a lvd 163 you can purchase a new invertor from sales@tvs-services or call 01245392539

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

This should be a quick fix. Try resoldering the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 11 pins. It should be marked LA7837 or something similar. That should resolve the problem.

Keep us posted.

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

The most common problem (I have fixed lots) is the Vertical amplifier has developed a loose connection. It probably just needs resoldering. As things expand it makes and looses connection you picture goes in and out. The vertical chip is a large black chip that gets hot, over time it degrades the solder until a connection is damaged. Most newer sets have a protection circuit that senses the lack of height, and shuts down the picture tube to save it. When the picture dropped to a line on older TVs and left that way too long it would burn a line into the face of the picture tube. You then had to have the picture tube replaced along with the vertical amp. it's kinda like a screensaver for your TV.
