SOURCE: emachine W3400/ front panel connections

they have to be plugged in horizontally although it is possible to plug them in vertically because the pins are evenly spaced either way. they are color coded just not like you would expect for example one plug has a green wire and a white wire the green side goes to the green pin and the white side goes to a green pin with a white cross you have to look close because there are several green pins which is what threw me off do this with all three plugs

  • For the Front Panel

pcsyke_117.jpg
1. There are 8 wires from the front panel's casing, excluding USB connectors and front audio cable.

2. Just plug the front panel switch headers to the F_Panel main board connectors. 1 & 2 are positive, if the led do not light change polarity but Im sure it will.

Note:The mainboard provides a front panel connector for electrical connection to the front panel switches and LEDs. JFP1 is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide.

  • For the USB connectors

pcsyke_118.jpg

1. If your casing has a USB header on the front bezel you can put it on any connector. You can also purchase a USB module cable or an internal card reader and plug the headers to any of those connectors.

Note: Observe Polarity, do this Vcc, -Data, +Data, Gnd ,(NC) ground is always near to NC.

Plug it at your own risk, reference image are already shown.

  • Front Panel Audio connectors

pcsyke_119.jpg
1. Look for FP_Audio header from your casing and plug it to the connector.

*Asus recommend you connect a high definition front panel audio module to this connector to avail of the motherboard's high-definition audio capability.

Hopefully this information helps.

I AM LOOKING FOR A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR A COMPAQ PRESAIRIO 5000 ON OFF, RESET AND LIGHTS ? WHERE CAN i GET THEM.

Hello mr_billsauto

The Compaq and HP cases have a block connector for the front panel. On the main board there is a set of pinns usualy labled as fpanel. that is where you connect the block set.

If the motherboard is the original then it should match the attached picture. I have circled the location of the connection.

Good luck

Need the pin assignments for the mother board

On most motherboards the front panel connections are printed in the connectors on the motherboard. When you connect the various LED indicators and when you power up and they do not light up then just switch the connectors around, because they are are polarized.
You can go to the motherboard WEB site (ASUS) to download a manual, the manufacturer and model number is printed on the motherboard.

Connecting front panel wiring to INTEL 845GRG Motherboard

Hello davideiker1, the Intel D845GRG MB manual is shared with another Intel board. (D845GBV MB). Go to this Intel site & download the D845GRG manual; http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845grg/sb/cs-008873.htm You'll need Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe from this link; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
See page 9 for motherboard layout.
The front panel connectors are shown on page 68, see item C.
On page 69 is, Table 31 shows the pin assignments for the front panel header. Front Panel Header (J9G1).
Pin 1 is power for the hard disk drive led, pin-3 is negative for the hard disk drive. Wire colors coming from the case are important. Look at all of the front case wires. The common color for each 2-pin connector will be ground. In most cases the ground wire is white, except for the internal speaker. Ground for the speaker is normally black. (This motherboards speaker is built into the MB, no hook up is needed).
Pin number 2 is positive for the case power led which lights up as green. Pin 4 is negative for the power led.
The reset switch is a bit different. Pin 5 is negative & pin 9 is positive, however if your case uses a two pin connector than connect pin 7 as ground & pin 9 for positive. The On/Off switch, pin 6 is positive & pin 8 is negative.
If this manual is not what you see on the MB, please advise.

Good luck davideiker1!

Hp sp 323091 001 motherboard manual

The information that you provided is not specific to the motherboard that you have. I'm assuming that your motherboard was manufactured by Intel. You will have more luck if you can find out what company manufactured the board and also the correct model number or name of the board.

However, most motherboard have a series of pins somewhere very close to the edge of the board and, this would be the edge that sits closest to the front panel. Most motherboards that I work with have a series of pins near the edges labeled "Panel". These would be the pins that you will use to connect the power switch, power LED light, HDD LED, etc.

Usually, there are even smaller letters that, if you look closely, label each set of pins for the appropriate connectors. Take a very close look along the edges of your board to see if you can locate these pins or the word "Panel" which would be written just beneath a group of pins on the board. Some boards even go as far as to label the pins for which connector they belong (for example, there will be maybe 2 rows of pins and some connectors will only use one pin, on one row while others may use 2 pins).

Hope this helps (that is if you still have the board or this problem)...
