Xr200r 84 hi my cdi has failed and am using after market racing cdi problem is wires are all differant colour from engine to cdi anyone no which goes where thanks

The aftermarket cdi should have 2 connectors which will connect between the factory connectors ,
stay away from the bare wire CDI`s bad news

Do not use a universal CDI unless you have the exact wiring cross-over diagram, or have tech help from the manufacturer. You can short out the CDI and other ignition components like the stator.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On Asian versions of an 84 Honda XR200R, the CDI unit has six wires:
  • blue/yellow - pulse generator
  • black - to ignition coil
  • black/white - engine stop switch;
  • green - ground;
  • green/white - pulse generator
  • black/red - exciter/charging coil at stator.

The ignition coil has 2 wires:
  • green - ground;
  • black - to CDI

you are wanting a wiring harness

your best bet aside from ordering one is to buy a service manual from www.ferracci.com or local husqvarna dealer and use the wiring schematic to build your own race harness........don't forget the kill switch.
