Paper jam at exit

I am trying to print on decal paper. 8.5x14. The thickness is equiv, to card stock. There are no problems with 8.5x11. I keep getting jams at the exit point at the top of the printer. The paper is crumpled up at that point and does not come out. It worked fine a few times but now its doing this. This paper costs me 2.40 a sheet and I've ruined about ten sheets because every once in a while it works. So when I go back with a new printing project I have problems again.

Besides setting it for card stock both in its internal menu and the pc's menu, are you setting it for legal size paper? The timing will be thrown off if that step is missed. It will stop pulling the paper because it is looking for 8.5 x 11" paper. I would test with less expensive card stock to also make sure a shard of the decal paper did not get left in the paper path. The card stock should help dislodge any debris in the paper path.

The fuser drive gear is most likely bad.
You can order one at this location.

https://www.partsdrop.com/store/

If you call ask for Britt, he will help you. Best parts service you can ask for. And NO ITS NOT ME. I just deal with them a lot and highly recommend them.
That gear is in the $15 range.

This is a problem with the preheater sensor. It could be a clutch, paper tray seperation pad, or (my vote for most likely) the preheater assy. Not too expensive, but you should get a technician to look at this.

Yes, the exit fuser rolls do wear out. Actually they just break apart untill there is no roller there. Sometimes there might be one or two, there should be one in each slot, about 4.
Also if you are going ot take out the fuser, be very careful.
The fuser exit switch in time will crumble and fall apart. It may appear to be ok, until you actually touch it, then the plastic just falls apart. This would need to be repalced.
The fuser roll has a lot of presure on it, sometimes the fuser bearings will actually freeze stoping the fuser roll. On back of the fuser assembley are a set of gears. The small ones on the back wear and will cause the fuser roll not to drive. These are common parts that need to be replaced.
The stirpper fingers need to be checked they get a lot of wear.
At the back of the exit transport roller there are some gears and one of them has a one-way clutch check it to see if it is slipping. A touch of friction oil can help with the drive of this clutch.
This machine has a vacume fan which helps trnasport the paper on the vacume belts. This is located on the back, at the bottom middle of the machine. This fan can turn very slow at times causing false jams.
If all else fails, call Xerox for service repairs.

SOURCE: I have a 8400 phaser

The printer has a jam and it is stuck sending a cleaning page. If you cure the jam, then things will return to normal. (You may be able to get 1 sheet through the manual feed, too)
I suspect mechanical problems, started with cracked plastic items. We have assembled a Service Kit (8400-Z1) for our field technicians, which we call the Camshaft Pivot kit, containing an updated Pivot Plate (which pushes against the oil roller. The 2 camshafts also have similar functions, one in the same area, and one at the transfer point. They always fail together, so that's why you should change them all.
Look at this video and see if this is too involved for you to do-it-yourself. You may need a trained tecnician.

Why is my hp 5610v not printing on cardstock?

Are you print through manual bypass? If not try doing it that way. Card stock is very thick and by using manual bypass it doesn't require as many turns for the card stock.

Duplex printing with card stock paper jams in back on Brother MFC-9840CDW

I would try manually inserting the paper for the back side. Most of the time it's best to wait a few minutes before trying the back side to give it time to cool so it will lie flat.

Paper jam at exit

Have you set the tray to thick cardstock in the printer?
If not try that. This will let thicker paper go through more easily.
Make sure you bot have the tray as the printjob set up as the same type of paper.
How much does the paper weigh?
Also try printing from the manual feed. You're paper path is shorter that way and easier for the printer to handle.
Does it only jam on this type of paper?
Might be a fuser easy but don't think that's the case with this one.

Trying to print on card stock paper and get a paper jam Is there a setting for printing on card stock paper?

Hi Fuller90

Read your issue.
1. Kindly check the thickness of the paper. If the thickness of the paper or the card is more then normal paper, you will experience the paper Jam on this printer model.
2. You can try this step..... Take the Power cable out from the printer.
3. Press and hold down the power button for 35 seconds.
4. Now release the button and then plugin the power cable.
5. Check your issue.

PIXMA MP450 alarm light is on and it says paper is jammed but there isnt any jammed, please help?

Hello,

You could try this, but there is no guarantee. There are a lot of sensor in the paper path of a Canon printer. When these sensors get stuck in the up position, pushed up when paper is present, you get the paper jam alarm when no paper jam is present.

The trick to try that sometimes works is to run some index card stock through. Insert the index card stock in the paper tray, run a print test and as it runs put some gentle firm pressure on the card stock to ensure it travels smoothly. Once it is done the sensor may have reset itself. In lieu of card stock you can use a thick magazine cover and cut it to size of an 81/2 x 11 piece of paper.

If this works great. If it doesn't let me know and please don' t bother to rate this if it fails. It works some of the time and not most of the time.

Thanks,
Worldvet

Paper keeps jamming

To print card stock you must us the manual slot in the front of the printer and feed one at a time. Also open the back flap door so the card stock can exit out the back instead of trying to bend around for the try. That will give you the staight paper path that your thick stock needs.
