SOURCE: Dryer is making loud thumping noise.

Take off the back panel of the dryer and look at the motor and belt turning the drum. There may be something caught on the drum and is pinned in place causing the noise. The motor could be loose on the platform and needs to be tightened. It is probably something physical and seen causing the noise.

SOURCE: dryer wont start when start button is pressed, but humming sound

I'd sure start by making sure the belt isn't broken. You can usually see the belt with a flashlight after accessing the panel (some are in front, others in the rear) - don't go probing around bare armed without unplugging the unit....

Bravos mct Dryer Loud Screeching sound upon startup ModelMEDB850WQ0

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
  2. Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
  3. Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

I have a LG Dryer, DLG2102W. It is about 2yrs old and is making rumbling and screeching noises when on. I am thinking is is a belt or roller

Hello,

The problem (noise)can be from both side or area !

However, Loud noises coming from a Whirlpool dryer are most oftencaused by loose objects inside the unit or by a broken dryer belt. The dryerbelt allows the dryer's motor to run smoothly. Continuous wear and dry conditionsmay cause the belt to dry out, eventually cracking and then snapping. This willcause a loud noise within the unit. Repair and fix the dryer belt of aWhirlpool dryer to get rid of loud noises. Instructions And Things You'll Neededto solve the problem.

Screwdriver ,Replacement dryer belt 1 Stop the Whirlpool dryer and look inside thedryer's drum for any loose objects such as coins, pens or anything else thatmay have been in a pocket of clothing. Remove the object and restart the dyerto determine if the noise has stopped.
2 Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet todisconnect all power to the unit. 3 Remove the lint trap from the lint compartment onthe top of the dryer. 4 Remove the screws that hold the top panel inplace. Pull the panel off to access the
dryer belt.
5 Tilt the dryer forward and lift the dryer drum toremove the belt. Check the dryer's belt. A belt that is worn, cracked, split orbroken will cause loud noises. 6 Slide the old belt off of the drum and pull it outto remove it. Take note on how it is positioned over the drum.
7 Install the new belt. Lean the front panel awayfrom the dryer and slip the new belt over the drum. Locate the position of theold belt and slip the new belt following the old belt's position ensuring thegrooved side of the belt faces down. Push the idler pulley towards the motor toallow you to slip and loop the belt around the motor pulley.
8 Place the top panel on the Whirlpool dryer andscrew it in place.
9 Open the dryer door and use your hand to rotatethe drum counterclockwise a few turns to ensure the belt is secured.
10 Plug the dryer into the wall unit and begin use.If the noise still exists, you'll want to call a professional repairtechnician. Thanks for using fixya.

Drum not turning-very loud sound coming frm dryer when turned on

There could be multiple problems with you whirlpool dyer depending on the type of noise you are hearing. If the noise is a low grumble or loud buzzing sound this could indicate a bad motor. Which could explain you not hearing the drum turning. If however you hear a grating or grinding type noise but the drum is turning, this could indicate that something is rubbing or has become jammed inside the blower fan that circulates the air. if this is the case it too may have to be replaced. Also the drum can sometime come off the drum support rollers at the back of the dryer, but this is very uncommon, and only happens if they are very worn or broken. This can easily be diagnosed by a technician and if the motor is fine, will cost little to repair.Hope this helps.

Thanks
