SOURCE: Fender Jazz Bass E string saddle vibrates down

Hi Mike,

If the sound is like a string vibrating against something, ensure that is not strings (usually G) vibrating against the bridge.

Ensure that the two screw on the saddle are well in place.

Ensure also that the vibration is not coming from a string vibrating against the frets, in that case you can fix the problem by adjusting the action and rectifying the bow of the neck.

In either case, if the sadde and neck bow are cause of vibration, try tweaking the saddles a little, and lowering the position of the saddle a bit downward. Try also to rectify the neck. turning the apposite screw.

SOURCE: how to adjust the neck on a fender jazz bass

depending on the model you will see a place for an allen wrench. it will be either on the end of the neck half way under the body, or most likely at the headstock just under the fret board. Find the correct size allen wrench and turn it about a 1/4 turn at a time. im not sure why your looking to adjust your neck so i cant really say what to look for.

SOURCE: I have a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass thats

This sounds like either a bad guitar cable or a bad jack in the guitar. Possibly your friend is not as qualified to find these intermittent problems as needed? These jacks are really junky and often have riveting of the barrel come undone... especially if the retaining nut is overtightened. The LONG barrel like jacks are notorious for failing. You have all the information you need to solve this problem. First try a different guitar cable... (often they are broken or intermittent at the end where they flex). If that doesn't fix it, replace the jack in the guitar. Also verify that the conductive coating paint within the guitar is grounded. Sometimes the contact to it is destroyed when the volume control shafts or jacks become loose and they depend upon the shaft barrel to ground the paint.

Where can I find the serial number on a Japanese made bass guitar it is a fender jazz bass 4 string and how much did this bass guitar cost brand new or how much are these bass guitars cost new today?

Jon has told you about the serial number.

Don't get Fender Fenders confused with Squier Fenders either.

Once you know the serial number you should be able to find out the year here

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

Then you could try Googling:

"reverb.com Fender Jazz Bass (year)"

and you will see a range of used prices.
