Trans slip when pulling toy hauler

Hi, I have Chevy 2004 3500 6.6L V-8 diesel /Allison Trans 4x4 w/ 46000 miles. When I pull my toy hauler 11000 lbs. When the trans temp. hits around 200 degrees, I start to here a loud vacuum noise and trans start to slip as I try to go faster. Stays on for 3 to 8 minutes and will go back to normal w/ full power no slipping. Then about 5 to10 minutes later its starts again. Speed does not matter For 200 miles on and off. ''When I’m not pulling Truck trans. does not slip.

Heat is killing your transmission. Change the transmission oil and filter and slow down. Pulling something that heavy is best with a manual transmission.

How do i know if my transmission is slipping

How many miles have you done? Is the trans correctly filled with oil? Why do you think its slipping, when it changes up is there some delay in forward pull from the engine that gives similar symptoms to clutch slip? Its not that old and a well maintained trans that hasn't done much towing should do 150k without problems. Towing heavy trailers kills auto trans.

2001 chevy 2500 hd 4x2 allison trans seems to loose pressure after coming to a stop, have to rev engine for a few seconds before it pulls again, whats up with that? 88800 miles

I would start
by changing both trans filters and fluid, makesure you put dex VI in trans then if still having problems take to someone with a Tech 2 scanner and have them reset the trans adapts and try that, what it does is resets trans to factory (new) mode and then as you drive the truck it will adjust to your driving habits and shift points, but loosing pressure makes me think one of your filters is partially plugged...there is a spin on cartridge and the internal one in pan, change em both..good luck

No transaxles make 100,000 miles

What your saying, including the rebuild

you with that

Can't fix slipping,drive a couple of days,
& your pulling the trans out again

2001 hd 8.1 with allison. Pulled my boat up a big hill, then the tranny warmed up just below the red line, pulled over and looked under, and it was leaking. Just dripping. Put a quart of fluid in it and...

There is no overflow on the Allison Trans, something happened when the trans got over heated, it is a good idea now to also get a trans flush as once you heat it up that bad it starts to break down the fluid.

Transmission on 2004 escalade with 100000 miles seem to be slipping when shifty into gear started in 2nd to 3rd know it's happen 1 at to 2nd but not all the time

These are common symptoms and usually mean the worse.IT is possible you have a bad pressure control solenoid but this is rare.I would start with pulling codes if any are present.Good Luck.

97 Chevy Suburban - Should I replace my transmission?

You are your own best judge on that, i got a 95 silverado with 160,000 mi. and would not think twice about driving and pulling anything across the country, but one thing i would recamend (if it dosent have one already) is an external trans. cooler.
