Sony KDL-40NX711 HDMI PORTS STOPPED WORKING. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE. WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN?

Sounds like everything works. Your remote has an input menu. Have you cycled it around to the right component? i.e. HDMI1 or HDMI2, or DVD, even PC?
If not, try that.

How do I connect the wireing

The VCR portion is connected to yhe TV via yellow-end cable(video) from "video out" to TVs "video in" and red and white-end cables(audio) from "audio out" to TVs "audio in". The DVD plays via HDMI cable from "HDMI out" to TVs HDMI in. S-video cable can be used if no HDMI terminal is available on TV. External tuner in (cable TV, Satellite) is connected to the video and audio in terminals or better yet if S-video out is available on the tuner box.

Where do to plug in the cord to connect the tv to the DVD player?

Hello

You have several options for connecting your DVD player to your GV42L FHDTV10A - HDMI,

Component, S-Video and Composite (AV) inputs. Based on your home theater configuration, you can
decide which option is the right one for you.
connected to the HDMI input of the VIZIO GV42L FHDTV10A for optimal results.

To maintain the display quality, use a VIZIO certified HDMI cable available up to 10 meters or less.

1. Turn off the power to the LCD HDTV and DVD player.

2. Connect a HDMI cable to the HDMI output of your DVD player and the other end to the HDMI

Input (white color area) at the rear of the LCD HDTV.

3. Turn on the power to the LCD HDTV and your DVD player.

4. Select HDMI using the INPUT button on the remote or side of the LCD HDTV, or directly by
pressing the HDMI button on the Remote Control.

a) If you are already using the HDMI 1 input for another component, or you do not want to use

the HDMI 1 input for the DVD player, you can connect the DVD player to the HDMI 2

connection.

b) Refer to your DVD player user manual for more information about the video output
requirements of the product.

How do i connect my laptop to my dvd player using hdmi cable

The HDMI connector at your laptop is output. The HDMI connector at the DVD player is an output also. So it's out of the question to connect two outputs, you may want to use the HDMI output from the dvd player to be connected at a tv or screen with HDMI input.

HOW TO PLAY DVD PLAYER WITH THE TV

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • DVD
  • RCA, component, or HDMI cable(s)
  1. Decide what type of connection to use. Look at the back of your DVD player. It should at least have RCA (red, yellow, white) output ports. It may also have component out, S-video out, VGA out, or HDMI out. These connections vary in picture quality and price, HDMI being the most expensive and providing for the highest-quality picture. Whichever type of connection you decide to use, you also need to verify that you have the same connection on your TV. Flat screen TVs typically have more connection options than other types of TVs, so you should at least have component, RCA and HDMI inputs.
  2. Connect the DVD payer to the flat screen TV. Take one end of the cable or cables you decided to use and connect to the output on the DVD player. The other end should be connected to the corresponding input on the TV. Video input connections are usually found on the sides of flat screen TVs. Once the DVD player has been connected, you are ready to use your DVD player.
  3. Check DVD player functionality. Tune your TV to the input that you used for your DVD player by pressing the button on your remote labeled "input," "source," "TV/video," Source select," "TV/AV" or the like. For instance, if you used an HDMI cable plugged into your TV's "HDMI 1" input, press the input selection button until you see HDMI 1 on the screen. Power on the DVD player, insert a DVD into the player and press play and you should now see a feed from your DVD player.

How do i use mdmi

It's actually called an HDMI......

you'll need to get an HDMI cable from circuit city (or someone like that). Plug in one end to either you cable box or your DVD player, and the other end into your TV. Go to your Input select (or source select) and select HDMI. If your cable comes from the Cable box, turn on your cable box.... if it's from the DVD player, turn on your DVD player... you're off!!
