Problem with front signal

I have a problem with my Sherwood Receiver r-945. I hear nothing from the speakers and I suspect it's because the front signal is activated. How can you turn? Or if not how I can do a reset?

SOURCE: No power

disconnect everything from the unit and see if it still does it.
if it does i would check the output transistor (ic).

SOURCE: Sherwood RD-7502 Hdmi Audio Problem

if you have a tv with outputs you can connect audio wires from your tv output to your audio receiver input and you will have surround sound for everything connected to your tv

Testimonial: "That's a good idea. I hope that my TV will output the hdmi audio through the optical output on it. Thanks"

SOURCE: Sherwood RX-5502 receiver - get

Hi,

After doing all this troubleshooting on your receiver, Check if master volume on the surround levels are too low. Adjust master and surround level.

There may aIso incorrect selection of the input source. Select the correct input source.

If after doing this the problem still continue, it means the sound ic in the receiver is damage. the sound ic brings out the sounds from the receiver. You will have to open the receiver to locate the sound ic in the receiver and use the multimeter to read capacitors and change the damage ones.

Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: SHERWOOD RECEIVER 6108. I

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

I plugged in headphones to sherwood reciver rd6506 and only one side works then plugged them into computer and both sides work, both speakers works when head phones are not plugged in

The head phone jack in the Sherwood receiver has dirty contacts. If the head phones work in another device, that proves there is nothing wrong with them. When phones are plugged in the Sherwood, shows s problem with the receiver. When the head phones are not plugged in and both external speakers come on, it means nothing regarding head phones. Contact cleaner could be used to fix the problem.

when you turn your computer you should hear a sound of a relay initially and after about two seconds another sound, is the closure of the speaker relay models if you do not hear the sounds, the team has some short audio output.

How to switch on Sub?

surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.

No power

The Sherwood R-945 has at least 6 fuses inside - any one of them could keep the system from powering on properly. The lowest power fuse is rated at only 35 MILIamps, I believe ( it's element is barely visible to the naked eye ). Check that all fuses are intact (with the power off)

My R-945 unit kept shutting itself off directly after powering up - turned out that one of the speaker wires had a fault - (found after hours searching with voltmeter). Check that all Inputs / Outputs are secure.

Good luck with yours!

Sherwood 460 equalizer hook up

Connect the EQ to the Sherwood as if it were a tape deck: EQ's outs connect to receiver's tape ins (play) and EQ's ins connect to receiver's tape outs (record).
Then you hook the tape deck up to the tape ins and outs on the EQ: Tape deck outs connect to EQ's tape ins (play) and tape deck ins connect to EQ's tape outs (record).
This will put the EQ in your receiver's tape loop.
The CD player should be connected to the receiver though the CD in's and out's (or if your Sherwood doesn't have a CD in/out, then use AUX or TAPE2).
To hear the EQed signal with all receiver sources (like the CD player) you'll need to engage the 'Tape Monitor' button or switch which will route the tape loop to the speakers.
