Check the defrost timer if that is good check the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. It is common for the defrost thermostat to go bad.

SOURCE: kenmore coldspot not making ice, and not cooling in the bottom

Your refrigerator is frosted up. Remove the inside panel of your freezer. Defrost the ice out of the coils and check the heater and bi-metal. If both are good then your defrost timer is bad. If one is bad replace and you have it fixed. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 106.59502992 that

Hi Danda,

About 98% of the time on a Whirlpool built Kenmore such as yours the problem with automatic defrosting is the "defrost timer". It's super easy to repair. You can get one from Sears, a local appliance parts retailer or just about anywhere online (just plug this part number---> 482493 <--- into a search engine and price shop)

Here's a diagram I made. It details the repair. Number 4 says "ADC", don't worry. There are two types of defrost timers one is an ADC and another is yours. They both follow the same repair procedure, OK?

Here's a full size diagram of your machine. You'll see that there is no difference other than the type of defrost timer.

NOTE---> UNPLUG YOUR FRIDGE BEFORE DOING THIS REPAIR!!! Otherwise, you'll look like this permanently...

There ya go, Danda! Remember to rate this solution as "FixYa" WillYa?

SOURCE: kenmore colspot freezer drain line keeps freezing

Hi, The defrost drain behind the rear freezer panel is plugged. Remove the rear panel and clear the ice away from the drain. Then you will need to flush the drain hole with hot water to make sure it is open.
Some models require an after market drain heat kit.
Please get me your model # and I can look this up to let you know if you need that heat kit.

Thanks
Vic

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot EM5119829. The Freezer works

Could be the evaporator fan or the evaporator is froze and needs to be defrosted or the damper is closed between the freezer and the refrigerator.

Kenmore coldspot 106.55602400 Stopped working and then started back

Make sure that the condensor coils under it are clean. Behind lower bottom grill. If their plugged up with lint and dust it'll cause all sorts of cooling problems.

That's where I'd start anyway.

Best to you.

Kenmore elite coldspot model 106.74219400 freezes in the fridge never gets above 5 or 10 degrees and it never shuts off.

there is a flap in the refrigerator side usually near or behind the light bulb the freezer side is thermostatically controlled with the compressor being controlled. On the refrigerator side the cold air comes from the freezer side. when this flap is open the refrigerator will cool continuously, Check the flap or the duct assembly
here is an illustration of the part

Hi, from my experience dealing with repairs of refrigerators and freezes, it is a fact that you likely have a bad condenser coil, condenser fan or condenser motor whenever your refigerator switches itself off and put it self on again. So you have to check one after the other to ascertain the faulty part and replace it...

The top of my refigerator is freezing in the back

Hi, the problem you are having is the defrost timer not going into defrost mode when the timer says to. They are normally located in the bottom back of the unit and will have a screw driver slot on it. It may be stuck in the off position. Turn it a click with a screwdriver and see if this starts the defrost mode and other problems. Is the evaporator fan in the freezer up and running? If not, this motor must be on. Keep me posted on this and we can get to the bottom of the problem.
Sincerely,

As a start, try cleaning the coils and fan under the refrigerator.

You would not believe how many refrigerators and freezers I've worked on which required nothing but a good coil cleaning. The dirtier these coils get, the less efficient the unit becomes until it reaches a point that it almost appears as if the refrigerant unit is not working at all when all it really needs is a good cleaning.

While you're under there, be sure the fan is running to pull air over the coils to cool and condense the freon inside them.

Hot to touch

there is another fan at the bottom, rear, of the refigerator. remove the bootom panel and look at the cooling fins to make sure they are not bent into the fan blades. Caefully bend the fins away from the fan. this should improve the cooling of the refrigerator and get rid of the hot spot on the rail between the refrigerator and freezer.
