My compaq presarion won't start up and the led in the charger hole won't light on

Posting the same thing twice is annoying and counter productive.

Try removing the battery and only using AC power. If the power LED on the power brick does not come on then replace the power supply. If it works with just AC then replace the battery. If it still doesn't work, warranty replace the computer.

Do you see anything on the screen? Does the HDD LED blink? You can start by removing the HDD and testing it or have it tested.

Usually when this kind of problem occurs it is an issue with the motherboard, most likely a blown capacitor. There is still a slight chance that it is related to the charger; just because the indicator light is on doesn't mean its working 100%.

I would certainly have it looked at again, though it sounds like you may want to go elsewhere if possible to get these services done.

You simply need to replace the screen, and or backlight, it is a relatively easy job, as long as you get a service manual. I usually get my screens from eBay, or similar.

try to jump green and any black wire from the power supply...if the fan dont work..power supply is damage..need to change..

if its by the power button the led just indicates power after u have removed its source and reconnected it........this is normal nothing to worry about.

Hey Mike

Go back and check the fine cabling that connects LED indicaters to motherborad. There's got to be a small cable you forgot to plug into the board to feed back poer state. Take your time and check everything twice.
