Gwes.exe on navman s70 3d, cant use navman at all

Hi, ive got a problem with my navman s70 3d, when i turn it on the fatal application error message appears.

application gwes.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. if the problem persists. contact the program vendor.

When i connect it to my computer the orange light comes on to show its being powered but nothing else happens.
sometimes (when the navman is off) and i connect the usb, my pc recognises that something has been attatched but the device manager cant start it. it says error code 10.

Is there any way to get past this screen to get the navman connected proberly as a mass storage device and then i can reinstall the software to see if that will fix it????
