That is usually caused from something getting stuck under it. Get a can of compressed air and use it with the tube that attaches to the can to blow out the debris under the space bar.
The phrase light is also the single space. If only the space bar doesn't workyou may have a bad keyboard or something under the space bar that is in the way.
a temporary solution is to use the space on the on screen keyboard, go to start -> all programs -> accessories -> ease of access onscreen keyboard as to your actual key try to press firmly across the space bar is it will space periodically that means the metal bracket on the back is stuck or broken, and either the key needs to be replaced or the entire keyboard good news is I can help you locate and help you install a new keyboard for fairly cheap just keep me posted
To clean your laptop's keyboard you have to look under your laptop, you can see like keyboard icons with some scews, so, open them, they will let yout to remove your keyboard.
So now your can remove just your keyboard slowly for some connectors on the motherboard then clean it with a tooth brush.
You can only clean your keyboard with a toothbrush without rmoving it,
Try to remove the space bar key and clean under it.
Try to hard press the space bar for about 5 times, it can release the pusher under the key.
it some liquid was spilt on it you have to remove the keyboard and clean the plastic under ther keyboard.
DEPENDING ON THE MODEL, THE SPACE BAR COULD BE STUCK DOWN SLIGHTLY SO WHEN DEPRESSED IT GOES INTO REPEAT. CHECK TO SEE IF STAPLES OR PAPER CLIPS ARE DOWN IN THE KEYBOARD, JUST MAKE SURE THEY DON'T GO THROUGH TO THE LOGIC BOARD WHICH IS MOUNTED UNDER THE KEYBOARD ON MOST SWINTEC
Is it stuck ... i.e. many space being keyed ... when you are not holding it down ? or is it NOT giving you a space when you press on it ?
Either way, try using a different (external) keyboard to see if the same problem exists. If it's the keyboard, have it cleaned/serviced.
The rubber plug below the spacebar button is faulty.The button needs to be removed gently and the rubber plug below it which touches the board below should be cleaned.If this does not solve the issue the rubber plug below the button needs to be replaced.Its a common problem.
