Brother mfc J6520DW How to stop the fax line phone ringing when sending faxes?
We have a Brother MFC J6520DW, all working fine, except the phone on the fax line rings when we send a fax and its annoying, is there any way to switch it off? I have looked in the manual and cannot find anything, but I may be being dumb!
Thank you

The first thing that I would try multiple people to ask them to fax you.Sometimes the 2 machines don't "sync".This is a toll free fax test number that I always use to check my machines..1-888-473-2963.Just write the words "FAX TEST" in large letters on a blank sheet of paper..fax it to that number...leave the line open...you should get a fax back in about a minute. If you get a fax back...your machine is fine...let me know if this was helpful....thanks.
Setting the Ring Delay
The Ring Delay sets the number of times the
MFC rings before it answers in Fax Only or
Fax/Tel mode. If you have extension
phones on the same line as the MFC or
subscribe to the telephone company’s
Distinctive Ring service, keep the Ring Delay
setting of 4.
(See Operation from extension telephones on
page A-4 and Easy Receive on page 4-3.)
1 If it is not illuminated in green, press
(Fax).
2 Press Menu/Set, 2, 1, 1.
3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select how many times
the line rings before the MFC answers
(00 - 04).
Press Menu/Set.
(If you select 00, the line won’t ring at
all.)
4 Press Stop/Exit.

The manual has step by step instructions, I'll include a link for the online version. Section four runs through setting up recieving, if it's on a dedicated line follow the first set of instructions to set up automated answering. If it's a shared line(phone/fax) then continue down to the next section.
Note: for a shared line you may need to contact your line provider for a second number that has a "dedicated ring"
I need help with my MFC 240 c Brother printer. I cannot send faxes or receive faxes. I do not know how to set the setting. Plus I lost my book that went with it.

Try turning off ECM (error correction mode or overseas mode). Try calling the fax # from a regular phone line - If you hear the fax shrill tones you know you've got the right #) I it does not go through, you should get an error code #. let me know what it is
