Example is when watching a movie and the picture is dark, I always see these white shadow spots

on the rermote control look for the button with a tv screen outline, two lines going down with arrows pointing to the edges they are closest too. when youve pressed that a menu pops up and select full mode. hope this helps

Mine immediately goes into standby mode and the screen just shows a white flash. I'm sure its just a power issue.

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).
1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board
There isnt really anything you can do to fix it yourself, you can order the part over EBay, not hard to install just unscrew/unplug --- plug/screw..

There are two settings within you menu that controls the brightness of what is going on. OPC, and Active contrast. Turn both of those off and you should have some luck.
