How to Load a Device Driver

Instructional step

Enter the device command into the "config.sys" file for older Windows operating systems. These commands can define whether the device is loaded normally or if it is to be loaded into upper memory. The older operating systems gave lots of flexibility to the user as to how the drivers were loaded into memory and in what order they loaded.

Right click on "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Select "Properties." Select the Hardware tab and click on "Device Manager" to open up the window that shows all the devices connected to the computer and allows access to the drivers for these devices.

Locate the driver that you need to install either from the Internet or on a CD or other media that came with the computer from the manufacturer. Look at the Device Manager screen and find the device that has a yellow exclamation point on it indicating that there is a problem with the driver for that device.

Click the icon (right click) and select "Update Driver." Read the Hardware Setup Wizard window that opens and follow the directions carefully. When asked to have Windows find the driver select "No" and then browse to the location of the driver that you have. Let the Hardware Setup Wizard install the new driver and close the Device Manager.

I lost my disk for ezonic ez368 pac207,, i need help to use my cam in another comp. thank you

Note: From my research this driver will not work with a 64bit operating system.

Here's the driver link for the Ezonic EZ-368 PAC207: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PRITNOKQ
Unfortunately I couldn't find a better site than Driver Guide for this driver so I downloaded the file from them and uploaded it to MegaUpload. I personally inspected the file to make sure it is the correct driver file.

1. Follow above link.
2. Wait 45 seconds and click Regular Download.
3. Save file to Desktop.
4. Open Zip file and select Setup to begin installation of the driver.

Good luck, please post back to this solution if you have any difficulties, and thanks for using FixYa.

Dear Sir, Please send me mass storage device driver for my laptop sony vaio vgn b100b.

I couldn't immediately find your model number on the Sony support site so please double check that it's correct and then select your model number from the drop down box or enter your serial number at this link in order to view the available driver downloads for your laptop. You may find that the mass storage device driver is bundled within one of the main Intel executables.

While trying to format my notebook and installing a fresh copy of windows vista i am encountering this error: I cant see my storage drives. Why this is happening? Thank you in advance.

More than likely you will need sata drivers for the hdd from the manufacturers website. Load them on a USB stick and during setup, it will ask you if you need to load additional drivers, then have it load up the drivers for the sata hdd off of your usb stick.

Best of luck

Ibm thinkpad r60 hard drive not recognized in windows setup, but is recognized in bios. Why and hw the problem can be solved

It usually means that the Hard Drive and/or the adapter(plug) on the motherboard it plugs into needs a specific driver (storage) that is not in the list of drivers that the WIndows disc you are installing from has included on it. You may have to find this driver on the IBM Support site for your exact laptop and load it onto a USB flash drive from another computer, then load it from that USB flash drive during setup of Windows.

This can be tricky. If you can get a disc from IBM which loads this driver automatically you'd probably find it less of a hassle.

I am trying to install windows xp home edition on my compaq presario 1260, and everything i have read states that this is possible. my issue is that when it gets to the "set-up is starting windows" it...

The following items can cause Setup to stop responding while the "Setup is starting Windows" message is displayed:
 • An incorrect mass-storage device (such as a SCSI or IDE controller) driver is being loaded, or the driver was not written for Windows and is not compatible. Contact the device's manufacturer or download the latest driver for the mass-storage device. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 216406 Specifying Third-Party Disk Controller Driver During Setup
 • There is a device connected to your mass-storage device that is preventing Windows from being installed. Remove any devices (such as scanners, tape drives, removable drives, and so on) from the mass-storage device controller. If the computer is IDE-based, verify that you have the master and slave designations set properly. If the mass-storage controller is SCSI-based, verify that the termination and bus speed is set properly.
 • The computer does not have the latest BIOS revision. Contact the computer's manufacturer or check the manufacturer's Web site. Many manufacturers have updated their BIOS revisions to properly support Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).
 • An ACPI Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) is being used during Setup. Force the use of a non-ACPI HAL during Setup. For additional information about this procedure, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 216251 How to Specify a Specific or Third-Party HAL During Setup
For additional information, click the article numbers below to view the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 224826 Troubleshooting Text-Mode Setup Problems on ACPI Computers 220845 Adding Third-Party or Updated Driver During Windows 2000 Setup
You may have to load you SATA drivers first? OR choose another HAL, press F6 during setup.Setup ACPI also.

I put 2 disks in raid 0 array on this controller

When you say "after merging the driver via a floppy at the txt setup" I think you are referring to pressing the F6 key to load the raid drivers. But I don't understand "restarting setup".
You will need the correct XP64bit drivers loaded on a floppy for this to work.
Maybe a good place to start is a temporary install of XP using 32bit drivers to prove all components are working.

When installing a new hard drive the system bios recognize the drive. However, when I start to install Windows XP, the program does not see the drive as being present. How can I get the computer started...

What type of hard drive is it. Sound like you put in a SATA hard drive. You need to load the drivers for that hard drive. During the Windows XP setup it gives you an option to load 3rd party drivers that what is sounds like you need to to.
