Your manual should say what kind of format it playes, and this link is good explanation ,also some burnt dvd do not play cause the player does not have the proper driver of internal decoder .

You haven't provided enough detail to work with.... but
In general terms. Check the wires going into the rear of the Pioneer. Use a 12v test light or voltmeter. When you turn the key off, one of these wires will lose 12 volts but there should be another wire supplying power when the key is off. Thats how it holds it's settings. One wire from Ign Key switch & one from 12v fuse box with power on all the time. So, check the fuse box if thats easier, as wire may have come off or a blown fuse.

the green wire is the e brake cable if you ground this wire you can bypass the need for the e brake keep in mind that because of the type of deck you have you will need to install a switch and you will have to switch ths on and off everytime you turn into or awayfrom acc
take it back to the shop and tell them to try again. What they have done is there are two power sources on stereos one come on when you start the car and operates all the stereos functions. The other is a power source that is always on is hardly draws anything so as to not wear down your battery but this power maintains the memory on the deck. they have either not installed this to a constant power or forgotten to hook it up at all. demand a re-imbursment for your troubles.hope this helps
