Firstly, unplug your refrigerator unit. There is a small phillips-head screw up underneath the display panel. Remove this screw, and then gently grab underneath on both sides of the panel. Pull out toward yourself gently and it should pop out. The ice dispenser should have a few more screws to be removed. Once these are removed, the ice door assembly (because it is an assembly, motor and all) should easily be removable. Make sure you look for and disconnect the electrical connectors of these pieces before attempting to remove them from the unit.

that is a great fix. I would like to clarify some for you.
on the Samsung side by side. under the ice dispenser is a small Phillips on the right side, remove that, now on each underside side in the back insert a large flat blade screwdriver between bottom of panel and backsplash (behind where the screw was) and twist. work each side till the top front panel unsnaps and slides forward with the dispenser and panel as a unit. this is the only way to clean the dispenser too. other attempts to clean can damage the microswitch or get into the electronics panel ( though its protected some). the power connector is removed by squeezing the connector latch and pull. best to have elect power to fridge off just in case.

SOURCE: I need to replace the Ice dispenser lever in ny

Unless the old one actually broke, you can re-install it if it merely fell off. Use a mirror and a flashlight to see the hole on the side toward you so that you can re-insert the lever that goes towards the front, then re-insert the lever into the back hole. If the lever actually broke, the new lever will come with directions on how to install it.

SOURCE: Samsung RS2555SL Ice Maker gone nutty!

The icemaker relies on the motor to twist the ice tray about 120 degrees or so the dump the ice out of the tray. In order to get the ice to separate from the tray the force of the motor actually torques the tray against the rear plastic support (much like you would twist an old fashioned ice tray that you fill up by hand). Anyway, this puts a lot of force on the plastic elements that support the tray and they break after time. Once the plastic support breaks in the back there is nothing to get the ice out of the tray and each subsequent filling of the ice tray results in water spilling all over the ice bin and eventually leaking out the front of the refrigerator. You can order the part and fix it yourself (the part is DA61-00244A and is available from a number of websites. Total cost about $16 with shipping.

SOURCE: Front ice/water dispenser stopped working.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a microswitch under the lever used to activate it. The microswitch fell from the original position so it wasn't turning on anything. I tried gluing into position but the fumes from the crazy glue messed up the switch and I had to replace the whole rig.
The part is under the control display. You can pry it open from the left side.

Frost build up around ice dispenser

Does you ice dispenser serve ice through the door? If yes, then It's likely that room air is entering your freezer through the ice exit, and condensing as ice on your ice maker.

It's a very common problem; The flap isn't sealing tightly after ice is delivered through the chute. Clean you ice maker, removing all the ice, and then stuff the exit chute with plastic grocery bags. The bags will force the flap tight against the chute, and add a layer of insulation from room air. Keep an eye on ice development, for a few days, and if you're confident you've found the problem, order a replacement ice door.

My ice maker is making ice, but it won't come out of the door. It gets stuck outside of the icemaker in the door. There is a flap that doesn't seem to be opening.

The units I have seen which have a flap, if water gets in from some drippage, it can freeze and make things get stuck. You might try some hot water on a small towel against the outside of the flap to see if that would melt any ice accumulation, or if you put a small pan under the flap hole on the outside to catch runoff and dribble a bit of hot water from the inside hole down spout to melt any ice that might free it up if that is causing it to stick.

You also might be able to fish out the ice from the inside and give flap a push to open it, or use a plastic spoon or spatula to push it through. While you might be tempted to melt the ice with a hair dryer, don't do that. It could be very dangerous if water suddenly spewed out and got into the heating element or motor and cause a fire or electric shock. Stick to not water and plastic to try and push it from the inside outward. Usually the mechanism to grind the ice is up above inside the freezer, not in the hole in the door.

If the door got stuck because its hinges came loose broke you might have to call a service center to come and replace it if you are unable to yourself.

Be careful and don't try anything if you are unsure of yourself.

How do I open the front control panel of my Samsung side by side refrigerator?

I tried to reply on my question, when you asked, I don't think it worked. First of all it sounds like you have a bad control board, or you may have a loose connection. On back of the fridge is your main control board, I think its the first wire at the top to the right, if that wire is disconnected the door will open and close. When I was running some test, I took this wire off and it began to do this. As for taking the display off, simple, took a while to find this out but all you do is take the one screw out, grab the ice shoot and just give it a firm tug, it should pop right out. you have the hose attached and theirs a wire connected so be careful, but that all it takes.

Rsg257 imaker bucketstuck

Probably indicates a leak inside the ice maker that froze the bucket to the icemaker outer shell. Our Samsung (under warranty) has had the ice maker components replaced twice in under a year for internal leaks (I think the 2nd repair has finally solved the problem - it leaked from the beginning, we had service out after 4 months, it continued to leak, and we had service out again a few months later).

First time, the tech had to take a blow dryer to melt some of the ice that had built up inside the unit, to free the bucket, so he could replace the components.

CAUTION: water contacting a blow dryer can cause an electrical short and personal injury. Be VERY careful if you resort to that method to melt the ice, and be sure to put towels under the ice chute to catch water. Also be sure not to use too hot a setting so the ice maker plastic doesn't become deformed. When in doubt, call for professional service.

Ice maker chute becomes jammed with snow and cubes are being crushed even if the cube option is selected

You need to remove the ice bin , remove ( save ) the ice , and defrost the bin opening with hot water . It sounds like a piece of ice got caught behind the bin flap , keeping the flap from opening fully , so cubes will go thru . When cubes cannot go thru , the crusher will crush anything that tries . Now this is the ice container only .

GE Refrigerator

first, let us explore the problem with dispenser flap. open the freezer and look into the ice discharge chute. there may be an accumilation of ice impeding the proper operation of the flap. next, you have indicated the light socket is broken. is it just the bulb or the socket itself? if you wish to remove the ice/water panel, first unplug the unit,. then you may be able to unsnap the drip tray where one would sit their water glass. if you are successful in doing this then the panel can be removed with a star driver but it depends upon the fasteners used. Always keep in mind to disconnect power before working on unit. I hope this was helpful.

The ice flap in the door does not open when ice falls down the chute

The door is opened by a electrical solonoid, not by the ice itself. This solonid gets corroded due to moisture, To axcess the solonoid remove water tray remove three torx screws removing trim panel, remove 3 more torx screw holding dispenser module to freezer door two on either sides and one by paddle. Maytag has a kit called a fountain door kit that has everything to rebuild the ice door system,

GE Icemaker flap door won't open causes ice jam in chute

There is an electric solenoid that opens the door. If you look up inside the dispenser you can see the solenoid. Either the solenoid is bad or the dispenser module that puts power to it is out. You will need to remove dispenser front and check for voltage to solenoid. If you have power from module, replace solenoid, if no power, replace both parts. It is common for solenoid to short out and damage the module so that both must be replaced. If solenoid is shorted and you replace module, new part will fry.
