A fax is retained in memory until printed (excluding memory limits). Given the failure to print and the continued "fax in memory" message, I suggest you try the photocopy feature of this device. If you try to copy something, it should force the printing of the fax.
The same thing can happen if you run out of paper. If the fax does not matter and you can't find instructions on how to clear fax memory, unplugging the device should clear the fax memory.
Dear As the model is not mentioned its difficult to right solution. But in general when a document sent from memory some times this happen. This is frequent if memory recieved is more and not printed. Its cleared on printing all memory recieved or memory cleared(all received fax will deleted). Also sending fax manually may be done.I.e.Dial the fax no.get the fax tone load the document press start or send. Also in setting the scanning resolution may be minimised up to150/200dpi for less memory. Thanks.
You have Fax's in the Buffer that need to be cleaned out and or Printed. Clear Memory will do both but if you have Fax;s that should be printed, then you need to print your Que..
If the memory is filled up when a fax is received ... when there's no paper, or it is jammed (so that it can't print) ... you can print the fax (in Memory, after putting in new paper, or fixing the jam) by pressing the START/MEMORY button. After it prints, the memory is cleared.
If the memory is filled up when you're scanning and storing a document into memory (to be fax out), press the START/MEMORY key to transmit the pages that's already in memory. After transmitting the content in memory, the memory will be cleared/emptied. You'll need to scan the remaining pages to transmit (as a separate fax)
Hello there, you can try the following:
1. On the Touchscreen press the MENU. 2. Press FAX. 3. Press SETUP RECEIVE. 4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW to choose MEMORY RECEIVE. 5. Press FAX STORAGE.
Then if you want to clear fax memory find clear or reset memory if you are not able to see it then turn the fax storage off then restart the printer then check. Then again turn on the fax storage if you want to store fax in memory. Thank you.
Hi Despite the increase in texting, email, Facebook and Twitter, we still hang on to our fax machines. They are perfect for sending copies of original documents despite document jams, buying ink or special paper, maintaining a phone line--we love 'em. Basic problems like paper misfeeds can be troubleshooted through the use of some basic steps.
Check the Message
Check the messages on the display of your Brother fax machine. The messages will be pretty self-explanatory such as "Insert Doc, Again" or "Please Supply Paper." "Insert Doc. Again" means that that the documents weren't placed on the feeder correctly; just follow the instructions and try again. A message like "Please Supply Paper" will simply mean you need to replenish the paper. "Memory Overflow" is probably the most cryptic. It just means that the memory capacity was exceeded and it has stopped recording. Press "Enter" to register the documents in memory and to complete the operation.
Misfeeds
Clearing an original's misfeed by pushing down on the release lever to open the front panel. Remove the failed original and close the panel. To clear recording paper that's gotten jammed in the paperfeed, open the turn guide and remove the paper. To clear paper from the transport unit, which is in the top, open the cover, remove the drum and toner. Lift the guide and remove the paper by pulling upwards. Paper can get stuck in what is called the Fixing Unit. Open the top cover. Again, remove the drum and toner. Open the Fixing Unit cover and remove the paper by pulling it back.
Press Menu, 2, 5, 2. The screen prompts you to choose a fax setting. Press <-- or --> to select OFF then press SET. If there are faxes in memory when you turn Fax Storage to OFF, the LCD prompts you to erase faxes in memory. If you press 1, all fax data is erased and Fax Storage is turned OFF.
You may want to enable Real Time TX so you can send fax without using memory. (Under FAX-SETUP SEND-REAL TIME TX)
You may also disable Fax Storage if you don't want to store incoming faxes in memory for remote retrieval (Under FAX- REMOTE FAX OPT-FAX STORAGE)
For effective use of the memory, you may also clear the caller IDs stored in the memory. Press MENU, 2, 0, 2 Press the arrow keys to display # then press CLEAR.
-utiliy/counter - Admin (pass 12345678) - fax settings SCREEN 2 (see at the right bottom of the screen), u ll have an option to turn off or lowwer the noise of your fax)

To print from the fax memory, first exit out of the MENU functions totally. Then, press MENU,2,5,4. Next, press START. After all faxes in memory have printed, press STOP/EXIT button. Check REMAINING JOBS again, if it is clear, fax memory should be clear, Also.If the fax machine has a PRINTER function, press the JOB CANCEL button to clear the print Queue.
