Faulty meat probe, probably a factory defect, if still covered by warranty, return oven for replacement.

SOURCE: How do you use the meat probe

Insert the probe into the center of the meat, in an area where it's likely to cook the slowest. Anything above 63 degrees celcius is considered safe for consumption.

SOURCE: My Jenn Air oven is asking me to remove the meat

you could have a bad probe receptacle. Or a board problem. Kill power to oven, wait 10 min, cross your fingers and restore power.

SOURCE: shuts nd wants meat probe

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is either with the sensor or the electronic control that has gone bad and needs replacement. You can take out the sensor and check it with a voltmeter...should read around 1100 ohms. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My GE double oven displays a message to set probe. When I press probe it prompts me to input a code (3 dashes)? Can you provide via e-mail what numbers can be used to set probe?

It is asking for the temperature that you want the meat to be. Example if you want your meat to have a medium doneness then usually it is 150F. You would enter 150. The probe will beep when the meat has reached that temperature

Kitchen Aid Oven - Superba Selectra- receive

Hi,

Here is what Kitchen Aid says about F4:

F4 Meat probe shorted
1. Disconnect meat probe and measure probe resistance (78kω at 60° F [15.6° C],
37kω at 90° F [32.2° C]).
2. If resistance is not valid replace probe.
3. Insert probe and check for a firm connection between probe and jack (in oven cavity).
4. Check connection between jack and harness (in rear of oven).

It sounds like the probe jack may be bad or the wiring between the jack and the control board above.

My oven is stuck in probe mode and will not cancel.. what should i do

Measure the resistance of the meat probe on the K-ohm setting. If it's open, then the probe is bad. I'm not finding a spec on the resistance but it should be something in the K-ohm range.

Next stop is to check the meat probe socket. May be gunked up with condensed grease or whatever. Sometimes a light schmear is all it takes to flake it out. Then check continuity from each leg of the meat probe socket back to the ERC, where the meat probe harness connects.
