Backfire out the carb? or timing out?? did you have any clutch work done recently? check the flywheel key, maybe the clutch was taken off with a impact gun. backfire out of the carb look up spark screen in your manual or Husqvarna's website (their free manuals)

SOURCE: need to know gas to oil ratio jonsered 535 chainsaw

50:1 is the mixture for the Jonsered 535. I bought mine new around 1991 and it's been a great saw.

SOURCE: how to adjust chain and bar oiler flow

The chain should be adjusted so that the chain can be pulled by hand fairly easily, but doesn't droop from the bar underneath. Oil flow should be set so that a running engine (chain moving fairly fast) will send a thin line of oil off of the tip of the bar (onto a piece of cardboard) with a few moments of running. Hope this helps!

Testimonial: "Thanks for advice about oil flow !adjustment needed I think !!"

SOURCE: the chain on my Jonsered

The chain on a chainsaw expands during use.This is caused by the heat generated by friction with the timber being cut. The chain should be monitored during use and the slack taken up by the tensioning adjustment screw or knob. You may have to loosen the nuts holding the bar before doing this and then tighten them securely. If these nuts are loose the chain can become slack. If you give me the model of the chainsaw I can try and find a manual and check the tensioning procedure as newer models of chainsaws have either automatic tensioning or have a thumbwheel arrangement for doing this.

Testimonial: "Thanks, great information, worked well this morning"

Johnsered chainsaw 625

I think a duplicate question… duplicate answer
This thread says a Jonsred 625 is a Husky 61. Post 17 by SawTroll can be taken to the bank. Everyone defers to him regarding specification questions.
http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=103127&highlight=jonsered+625
I found an Operators manual here (no IPL):
http://www.tilton.usa.jonsered.com/node246.aspx

There are a number of model 61s starting on page 11. I suggest you contact Husky for clarification of any saw older than 2000. They may even provide the correct IPL for saw (Jonsered owned by Husky).
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

That said, the 61 has an outboard clutch. This will help you with removal.

  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed. Poulan clutch removal tool part number 530031112 if needed. Under $5 from many sources,
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. Everyone I have ever removed had a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).

Choke wont stay in the closed position for starting

Been a while since I saw a Jonsered but I think if you bend the choke linkage a little that it will stay in the choke position.
