If you don't care to have the daytime running lights on at all. look for a fuse that is in your owner manual for the daytime running lights and remove it and see if your lights turn off .... but every thing else works in your car .... there are many things that could cause this problem to happen like faulty daylight running lights module is bad or your parking brake switch is not work proper to with the daytime running light circuit one thing you can try when the emergency brake is pushed the daytime running lights always in all cars should turn off ... to be honest you need to get a wiring diagram from the chevy dealer and follow the diagram to find out which part is bad and cause this issue cause there are fuses and relay and modules that make this system work right ..... if you dont understand the wiring diagram you will have to take your car to a electrical person who fixes only electrical problems not a mechanic ..... if you find the fuse that turns off the daytime running lights and everything else works leave it cause you still will have headlights and parking lights and dash lights by turning on the light switch at night

Very helpfull suggestions, thank you very much. However I can find no separate fuse for the running lights, only right/ left headlights. Pulling them disables the lights completely which what I have been doing, pull when I park, put in when I drive. The emergency brake does not turn them off either. Maybe a more complex problem some where else.

2006 Colorado: Headlights will not turn on. All other lights work. Including high beam indicator.

Hello. It seems your Chevrolet has either faulty headlamp relay(s) or its headlamps are connected in series; if one don't light, neither will the other one. I can't explain why the 'CHECK ENGINE' light was still on while your truck's engine was off and key was out of ignition switch. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

2005 Malibu classic day time running lights resistor how to fine it

Hey Joe , the resistor you refer to is actually a light sensitive transistor , an it's called an ambient light sensor ! It is located in the top center of the dash pad , that little round bulb ! To replace it you have to Remove the instrument panel (I/P) trim pad. Are your Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Inoperative ?
  1. Expose the ambient light sensor to a bright incandescent lamp.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  4. Ensure the parking brake is disengaged.
  5. Block the wheels.
  6. Place the transaxle in NEUTRAL.
Do the daytime running lights (DRL) illuminate?

1995 GMC k2500 5.7: Parking lights stay on all the time. With engine off, light switch off parking lights constantly on. Go off when 50 amp red under-hood fuse is removed or when 10 amp in-dash fuse...

try to depress the parking brake ONE CLICK to turn them off.
You are probably spot on when dirrecting your attention to the trailor wiring as there is a master power wire that would have been installed to power the relay box that your vehicle would have been wired with.
Try the parking brake... it will bypass / override the auto daylight illumination protocall and extinguish the daytime running lights as well.

My daytime running lights work, high beams will come on but switch wont stay on, have to hold it. Low beams do not work and daytime running light dash indicator stays on all the time. Is it a relay or...

if you have to hold the switch so the high beams stay on then that indicates a bad/worn switch, you could have 2 problems the day time running light relay may have a problem with it.i would first replace the headlight switch at the base of the steering colume as by the info you supply its not changing to the high beam side without holding the switch in position.

The headlight stay on all the time, either daytime running lights or all lights. The car has a sensor bulb in the dash. If you pull the headlight switch on and then push off, they still stay on. Trying...

This sounds like how the headlights on this vehicle are designed to operate. They can be manually turned on if in DRL mode. Setting the park brake before turning the ignition on should keep them from lighting, otherwise they are always on. The light sensor switches between lowbeam and daytime running light modes.
