How do i remove a drip pan from a kenmore refrigerator

The drip pan collects water when the freezer goes into a defrost cycle. Most times there is very little water and the water evaporates quickly. When there is a problem with the freezer or the water does not evaporate between defrost cycles, the drip pan fills with water. If the front bottom of your refrigerator has a grille, you access the drip pan from the front. If there is no grille, access the drip pan from the rear.

Instructions
Rear Access

1 Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the refrigerator.

2 Look under the refrigerator with a flashlight and locate the drip pan. Often when people install refrigerators they neglect to pull the packing from around the drip pan. The drip pan may have tape or styrofoam around it.

3 Remove any packing material away from the drip pan and pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

Front Access

4 Pull the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator below the refrigerator door with your fingers. The grille secures to the refrigerator with plastic clips.

5 Remove any debris from the access area and throw the debris in the trash. The coils and fan under the refrigerator attract dust and dirt. Clean out the area with a lint brush if you have one.

6 Pull the drip pan out from under the refrigerator.

My Hotpoint refrigerator drips water some times alittle and some times a lot I'm not sure where it comes from I have cleaned the rubber seal and made sure there is nothing keeping the freezer side from...

In most refrigerators there is a drip pan underneath that captures condensation and allows it to evaporate. Possibly your drip pan is missing or improperly installed so that the condensation is dripping onto the floor. Check your manual, or find one online. Usually you just have to remove the grill from the bottom of the fridge to get access to the drip pan.

Where is the drip pan on this refrigerator? do I have to empty itor does the coils evaperate it?

it's behind the bottom kick plate, some machines don't have one,the water drips on the floor near the compressor and no you don't do anything with the pan,if you're having a water problem you could have a clogged drain line,it's in the freezer, when the machine goes into defrost the ice melts and goes down the drain line to the drip pan,if that's clogged water will leak out and you'll see ice on the floor of the freezer, also a water line could be cracked and leaking but the water in the pan evaporates on it's own

We are getting an overflow of water in the pan in the bottom of the refrig. What causes that and can the pan be removed to empty?

This may sound strange, but the cause of your problem may be your icemaker. The fill tube may be leaking before it gets to the ice maker and causing the pan uner the fridge to fill up too much. try turning your ice maker off for a few days and see if the issue stops. Or you can see if the tube is loose or iced up. If it is iced up, you may have a bad water valve. If you need more assistance, let me know. Hope this helps!

Trickling water noise coming from the bottom of the fridge.

It may be nothing to be concerned about. The water produced during the defrost cycle drains into a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. This water is then evaporated by heat from the refrigerant coils.

You may be hearing this water dripping into the pan from the tubing that carries it from the inside of the refrigerator.

Do I need to empty the water from my drip pan

the pan is there to catch condensation from the compressor during the refridgeration cycle. the water build up to me indicates one of two things. Either the refrigerant level is low and it is freezing up then thawing, or if you have ice or water dispencer it could have a leak in the line. the only thing other than that is a leak in the magnetic door seal or other insulation causing condensation. hope this helps

Water leaking along back interior to bottom under & over veggie bins

Sounds like the drain to the drip pan is clogged -- maybe with ice.

Defrost water runs down to a drain in the bottom of the fridge and into a pan underneath where it evaporates.

Sounds like the defrost water is not reaching its final destination.

Here's the way the same problem was solved earlier today:

For those who have this problem with this model: The drip pan is in an open space on the back side of the refrigerator. There is a rubber spout that empties into it. But to clear clogs...you must take out the shelves from the freezer, unscrew and remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. There you will see the water exit. Boiling water cleared it out.
