Need a replacement display board for a Kenmore Microwave Model No. 318279601B

These are all the top suppliers, but that model number is not showing. If the display has gone dim, you can get an electronics technician to replace the capacitor that runs the display.

Small metal-like plate against wall smokes when I try to use the microwave. Bought it last year. Afraid it will cause a fire so I don't use it. Pregnant with twins..need my microwave.

Shelley,
That is actually a mica plate and that can be replaced. I would suggest trying to find an appliance repair store near you and give them your make and model number of your microwave and they can probably order the part for you. Worst case scenario would be that you might have to order a piece larger than you need and you would have to trace out your old one onto the new one and cut it out yourself. It is not hard to do. What happens, is food grease gets splattered around during cooking, and it can get built up behind that plate and it will start to smoke after a while. You could try removing the plate and cleaning both sides real well, and if it has not charred the plate on either side, you might be able to get by with putting it back in. Hope this helps!

How do I replace the turntable motor?

Roger, lay your microwave on it's back after taking your turntable plate out of the microwave. Looking at the bottom plate you should see in the middle an area that covers your motor that should be square, a rectangle, or a circle. There usually is also a screw that is just screwed into the bottom plate. Around the middle part, whichever shape it is, there will be a series of small holes with a thin piece of metal going between the holes, get a pair of side cutters and snip the thin strips of metal and that will give you access to the motor when they are all snipped out. To replace it you usually just have to turn the plate 180 degrees and use that screw to hold it back in place. Hope this helps.

How to install turntable motor in kenmore 72169072900

You can find helpful exploded views and find parts by entering your full model number (72169072900) at the Sears Parts Direct Web site.

Remove the glass tray and turn the oven on it side to get to the bottom base plate.

If you look at the diagram titled "base plate parts" you'll see the access panel on the bottom in the center that has to be removed to get to the turntable motor screws.

On some models, you have to cut the metal strips holding the panel in place, then during reassembly use a screw to reattach it. In some cases, the cover has to be rotate 180 degrees before reinstallation.

You then unplug the connectors on the turntable wires, then remove the screws holding the turntable motor, gently lift it out and also ease the turntable off the motor shaft.

When using on small amounts of food would burn (spark & flame)

Sparks in microwaves are caused by metal things in there. What kind of plate - any metal or gold leaf decoration on it?
Try a microwave safe dish.
Make sure you do not use metal items in microwaves.
I do not know the model number of your nuker, is it a new one or old? How long have you had it, and has it always done this?

Microwave sparking, etc.

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.
