Keeps shutting off, When plugged into charge it shows a Red triangular shape with an orange coloured exclamation point over what seems to be an empty battery..... please help.

That symbol usually indicates the battery isn't charged or charging. It could be a connection problem, a charger problem, or a battery problem.
If you have an extra wall charger, try that first as they don't always last forever. Make sure the plug that connects to your tablet looks clean and not corroded.
If it still won't charge, then chances are the battery needs servicing to make sure the connection is OK or the battery just might need to be replaced.
Check the output of the charger to make sure its actually working, if it is most likely the battery connector inside the unit is bad, or the battery is bad.
Can mean the battery isn't communicating its status to the tablet--failing battery, bad connection, etc. Talk to tech support for a replacement if it's still under warranty. If it's not and you can still charge it to 100%, hang on and hope for the best.
Can the tablet turn when plug in to ac adapter/ home wall charger?
