My dryer will be 3 years old next month and the seam of the drum has come apart and my cloths are getting caught. lg will not stand my their products. the dryer only has a one year warranty no mater what.i will never buy lg products.The repair people say they can not fix it. I have to replace the drum. Is it worth it????

Check your owners manual, or call samsung. These dryer drums, if stainless are usually warrantied for multiple years or lifetime as listed in your manual. Consumer to pay all other charges like other parts, trip charge, and labor if over 1 year old. The stainless drums frequently split on the seams. Pleazer Appliance...

The bearings under the drum may have failed, making the drum drop, so the gap is bigger. Replacing drum or bearings is a lot of work, cheaper to replace the dryer. Or you could make a plastic ring yourself that is thicker to fill the gap....

I would suggest replacing the front drum bearing. Sounds like the gap is now excessive, obviously allowing clothes to get caught up in there. Drum must be removed from the dryer to do this.

I had the same problem. Unfortunately, it is caused by a rusting drum edges, if you can believe it. My dryer was only 6 years old when this problem occured. There are felt gaskets on the front and back of the drums where it contacts and rotates on the frame of the dryer. You can take a white cloth and run it around the rim of the front and back of the drum and I suspect you will end up with some discoloration on the cloth. I had these felt gaskets replaced, but that is only a temp solution. When the drum is taken out and the old felt gaskets are removed, you can clean the edges of the drum and get a lot of rust/brown off the drum. New gaskets are only a temp fix. I did it about 1 1/2 yr ago, and I think the problem is starting again. Probably time for a new dryer or time to pull the drum and clean it. New drum probably cost prohibitive if you can get one. What a bunch of **** for a 7 1/2 old dryer. Next dryer will have a stainless steel drum. Hope this explanation helps you with your problem.

A piece of clothing is probably caught in the blower wheel.
Remove lint filter.
Use flashlight to look into filter housing to the lower left.
You may be able to retrive the item if you can see it.
Try rotating the drum in both directions while looking.

Take a putty knife or spatula and insert it in the seam on the dryer between the top panel and the rest of the machine, and pry up the top. The top will pop right off and you will probably just need to tighten some screws or replace a small part at the most.

We had the exact same problem with our LG dryer but the crack was in the front near the door. The service tech as well as the engineer from the LG R&D department both agree that it is a manufacturing defect...the result of a poor welding job by LG. The service tech replaced the dryer tub today and the dryer is as quiet as when we first bought it. I paid for the part and the repair myself to get it fixed quickly. The service tech said to use it with the crack could be a fire hazard since the heating element is open under the tub. However, the service company we use will reimburse me for the cost of the part if LG agrees to reimburse them. I am in the process of working with the resolution department to get them to agree to pay for this part. It is no longer under warranty but since there engineer has agreed that it is a manufacturer defect, I am hopeful I will get my money back!

It always helps if you list the brand and model number in your post. I would look at the seam on the drum to see if the weld has cracked. (right at the front and / or rear of the seam.)

Look for a crack at the welded seam of the dryer drum. Noise maybe coming from the crack when it passes over the drum support rollers. Check front and back side of the seam. Solution is to replace the drum. If this is not found, please describe your symptoms in more detail.
