Out of curiosity, did you install win 8 over a win 7 operating system? And did everything work all right before? Not sure if this could be a driver issue. Have you noticed any other things acting different or wrong? You may need to get updated drivers for your machine. Hope this helps you..

If the keys are outputting different characters, then you should check the character map, oh wait that should only apply to alternate Operating systems, hum, then again XP does have that accessibility thing... Bottom line: If a different keyboard with the same connection works, just e-waste/recycle/trash that keyboard...
