WATER OVERFLOW AND DROP ON THE FLOOR

If the water overflows from the water holding well in your Essick D46720 humidifier, there could be a few possible reasons:

1. Faulty Float Valve: The float valve regulates the water level in the holding well. If it gets stuck or fails to function properly, it can cause the water to overflow. You can try cleaning the float valve and make sure it moves freely.

Does it get heated? If so, Heat makes filter dry and it starts to leak.

this might sound stupid but is it pitched so that it drains outside instead of level or in towards the house?

If the water stops when the heater is not running then the humidifier is working fine. I know it seems like alot of water but that's how it's designed.

Sounds like you do not have an orifice in the water line to regulate the water pressure.

Sounds to me like you have something partially cloging the misting nozzle, if you can take the nozzle off, and check it I would bet there is something that got in there, if you cant, it might be better to just return the Humidifier where purchased for an exchange, if you can get the nozzle off, if you have a can of compressed air like they sell for dusting off computers, I would use a very short burst of that in the nozzle, and in the feed line, thanks again for your question, let me know how it works out,

Ever find a solution to this? I had the same bug after 2 years working fine, felt stupid as I couldn't understand it. I replaced both tanks for no good reason then it worked fine, took it out this season and it's doing it again.

If the unit was installed with a saddle valve, which is most often the case, you could try turning down the water pressure by tightening the valve a bit. Just follow the copper water line from the humidifier back to the main water line and look for a little valve that you can turn. Try to tighten this enough so that you still have water flowing, but at the proper volume so that it doesn't overflow and splash all over.

Try to just fill the tank with water and set it upright on a table. If it leaks, the tank is cracked and needs to be replaced. Order one at kaz.com (search using model#). I have had this tank leak if the special cap is not sitting properly on the base. Make sure that the steam tower is properly locked in place before you place the water tank in the reservoir. The cap on the tank has a spring release that has to be correctly lined up so it only releases water when the water level in the reservoir drops.
