Hi I have a Henry vac, the power does not come on, I have changed the fuse inside the plub, it just doesn't work, please advise, thanks.

There is still other problem beside the fuse. Check the cord, power switch. Often they are the most usable and abuse parts of the vacuum. The cord are often bend, roll over the floor. While the switch
is the almost use before and after the vacuum is used.
Thanks for asking.

The cord will not rewind

These get stuck all the time...I own 2 of these , and I have done this many times...Get a can of WD40 or some type of spray lubricant with the little straw in the nozzle. Try pulling and pushing the cord back inside(don't pull it too hard) while you are spraying the lubricant directly inside where the cord comes out. push the cord back in as if you were going to force all of it back inside the cord winder. You may even have to bump the back of the machine where the cord winder is located. But it will wind back up.If you are worried about getting the lubricant on something that it doesn't need to be on , then take the Vac apart and spray it directly on the the coils of the cord winder..A lot of times, that's all they do in the repair shop when they tell you they replaced the cord winder....

How do I open my Kenmore Whispertone 12.0 to get to the cord reel

The motor / cord compartment cover must be removed to access the cord reel. There are four screws that hold the cover to the chassis. Two of the screws are found under the cord-retractor-foot-pedal on the top back of the canister. To access these screws the pedal must be removed. To do this, press the pedal down and look (from the top) for the four plastic clips that attach/hold the pedal hinges to the cover. There are two at the end corners and two in the middle. Using a long, thin flat-head screw driver (or similar instrument) press each clip to unhook/popout the hinges. Note: the foot pedal spring will also come out when the pedal is removed.

The other two screws are found under the curved hinges of the vaccum bag compartment cover. To access these, lift the cover as if accessing the vacuum bag. Keep pulling the cover back until the hinges release from the motor cover. Don't worry, it is disigned to do this and will not break but it may require a little force. A long phillip-head screw driver will be needed to access and remove each screw. Good luck. - Gary

Vacuum base removal-kenmore whispertone 300

Most of these you have to take off the cover on the back end where the cover retrack button is. Usually it has a catch, 2 on each side, use a screw driver, pry up near each corner to release it, then you can get to the cover over the moter and cord reel. Remove the 2 screw and put up and out.

Electrolux 5500

Depends on which model you have, but most of them you take off the center section, then you cab get to the 2 screws on top , and there is a screw on the bottom, then the back end will pull off. But I wouldn't try taking the cord reel apart, if that spring lets go while you are doing that, it could be dangerous. Also make sure that it isn't plugged in.
