Changing the control panel for water and ice in the freezer door

I was told that I could pry off the trim around the ice/water/crushed ice in door assembly then change out the control panel. I cannot get the trim around the assembly to come off. I don't know if there are screws from the back side and I have to tear the door apart or it will pop off with enough pressure.

My through the dor systems all work. I can get ice, crushed ice and water. The touch panel on the door is damaged due to fingers pressing on the pressure sensitive "buttons" and I want to replace this touch pad. I just can't figure out how to take it apart.

SOURCE: ice/water dispenser control panel

@ Scootertramp

You tell us about this board or that board but never tell us where to located or get at these boards. Would you please clarify that?

My ice and water started dispensing sporadically, though the lights were working fine. After I removed the kick board at the bottom, cleaned out the little connector and put it back together, nothing on the door works. All else works fine.

SOURCE: PSS26PSTA SS - Only dispenses crushed ice.

Remove the ice dispenser bucket. You will see a square hole at the back wall with a horizontal rod in it. You should be able to move it up and down with you fingers. If not, it may just be frozen. Warm it with a hair blower and try again. If still no luck, the WR62X58 dispenser solenoid may be burnt out / melted and need to be replaced. It is attached to the metal just above and behind that square hole. The removable tray at the bottom of the dispenser recess is a part number WR17X12133 for a PSS26PSTA SS. Contact any GE servicing dealer or general appliance servicer near you to get one. You can get parts direct from GE also, but the won't be any cheaper, and you may pay more shipping and handling.

clean that and should work fine and stop leaking. I haven't had time yet, but this weekend I'll do the deed. Hopes this helps ya!

SOURCE: ice dispenser will not switch back to cubed from crushed

Had the same problem, dispenser stuck on crushed ice, even when cubed ice is selected.  There is a magnetic switch behind the panel where the motor for the ice dispenser is.  It gets water in it and freezes so it is not free to go up and down.  It is always down for crushed, but for cubed ice, the magnet pulls it up.  when it's frozen with ice, all you'll get is crushed.  You'll have to defrost it.  You can defrost the whole freezer, but better to just remove the ice dispenser and defrost that. Three 1/4'' bolts hold secure it.  You'll have to unplug the wires from the back of the freezer to remove the unit. The just let it defrost and dry. You can remove the switch from the panel and dry it out too.   I've had to to this several times and am looking for a solution to keeping water out of the thing so it won't freeze again. Has anybody solved that?

GE GSH25JFRF BB ice maker doesn't dispense. Water dispenses and ice maker makes ice but won't come out.

There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

When I choose either cubes or crushed on my icemaker, my unit only crushes the ice. I already had the water inlet control valve replaced and there are plenty of cubes in the bin. It is a dispensing issue...

this manufacture makes 2 seperate style ice buckets one in the door and one in freezer with a large ice bucket and auger screw that turns... first we will explain the one up on a shelf in freezer side up top... if you pull your ice bucket completely out of freezer... there should be a small bar coming out of rear toward bottom of ice bucket assembly now put it back in where you got it but this time watch where the rod goes... there is a solenoid in the rear of freezer actually called cube/crush solenoid and what this does is if switched to crush will raise that rod and activate the teeth in bucket to crush ice... if not will let ice fall out in whole piece...this solenoid sometimes gets hung or will freeze ...make sure with your finger you can move it freely and then watch it with some assistant pushing the switch for you does it go up when the handle is hit... the ice bucket in door works the same way except the componets are in the door and a little harder to access... repost with any questions if this doen not help you out...good luck to you

Helo I have a KitchenAid KSBS25FKWHOO which is like this one. My problem is there is a push button for ice cubes or crushed ice and as of now no matter which button i push it gives crushed ice. How can I...

Hi,

It sounds like your crushed ice flapper might be stuck.

Open the freezer and remove the ice bin by pulling toward you. Dump the ice into a container if you wish to save it.

Turn the bin upside down and look at the opening in the front that the ice drops out. There is a white flapper door that is controlled by a metal rod going all the way to the back of the ice bin. If you move the metal arm up and down from the back you should see the flapper door open and close. Open is for cubed ice and closed causes the cubes to travel through the blades and be crushed.

The most common failure is ice or frost build up around the flapper door that causes it to stick shut and not move to the open or cubed position. You can unthaw by running warm water through it in the sink. Dry completely before returning it to the freezer. Clean out any ice chunks from the chute in the door that might be slowing down ice. That should fix the problem.

Ge pss26sgrc ss ice/water dispenser

Take the outer frame off the dispenser area with a plastic putty knife. Start at the bottom and gently pry off, trying not to snap off plastic tabs that extend into door. Most likely you will have to replace the "interface" (part # WR55X10415) It is the small board where you select water / crushed ice / cubed ice. Relatively easy to replace. good luck.

If this helps, please rate response. Thanks.
