Wont shut down - ASUS P5PE-VM Motherboard

Shut it down by simultaneously:

Holding down power button
Holding down volume down
Holding down Home button

For 10 seconds.

After shut down, restart it.

2 different issues, Engine shutting off usually with your car is the ignition module under the coils, Windows usually is a broken wire in between the door and the body jam, inside the rubber tube. Might be suprised to find a couple more wires broken

hi often its crankshaft sensor they shut down after 15 or 20 min and restarts if u let it cool down also known as ckp sensor danny

Get a toothpick and hit the reset button on the back or side

There should be a reset button on the player. It will be a small pinhole usually near the power plug. You can use a paper clip or small stick pin to press the tiny button in the hole to reset your device.

Is it possible that you have changed the settings of what buttons do what on your system? E.g. you could have changed the power button to "switch user" instead of "shut down", to check this (in XP) go to "Power Options" (in Control Panel" and then click on the "Advanced tab" at the top, then select "Shut down" from the drop down menu at the bottom of the window.

If this is already set to shut down then maybe you could do a system restore in case another setting has been changed, restore it to before the PC started doing this.

Alternatively try actually choosing "Turn off Computer" from the Log On screen (press Ctrl + L to get to this screen, or choose switch user/log off). If you are using Vista I beleive that there is a shut-down option from the Log In Page there (which again you can access by pressing Ctrl + L on the keyboard.

You need to provide some more information, it could be spyware as jerry suggests or it could be a bios or motherboard issue. It might be that some software that wont close or allow you to shut down. Look in win defender to see what software you can run without and disable it from start-up and then that can be ruled out.
