My Sony CDX-C680...

On my Sony CDX-C680, the radio works fine, however you can't see anything on the faceplate. Ideas?

  • greggerika Jun 16, 2009

I have already checked all of that. Since the radio came to me with the car, I don't have a schematic as to what wire is what, except the speakers andpower/ground, of course. Which wire is the dimmer wire and which coded wire does it hook up to?

Hello greggerika,

It's possible that the "illumination" wire is not connected or connected improperly. It's also possible that the front panel electrical connections are not making proper contact. Remove the front panel and gently clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Also, the CDX-C680 allows you to select either green or amber illumination. One or the other may be defective. Try changing it. Press SHIFT - press "3" (set up) three times - press "5" (right arrow) to change the setting. Also check the setting for "dimmer". ON will result in a dimmed display at all times. AUTO will dim the display whenever the headlights are turned on (if the wiring is connected properly). OFF will result in the brightest display at all times.

Hope this helps.

My Sony CDX-MP70 unit plays CDs and works on aux off my iPod but when I try to listen to am or fm it's nothing but static if I scan for a station it will just search forever, I took it apart but it all...

Check for a loose antenna connection, at the unit and where your antenna is attached to your car. Also, check fuses, some cars have 'powered amplified' antennas.
If those dont work, try resetting the unit. On most units there is a small pinhole behind the faceplate(not on the faceplate). Could also be the internal tuner has gone out...

Hope this helps

ATT keeps coming on then off don't know what to do

Unfortunately, ATT cell phone service interferes with electronic equipment. Period. TV's, computers, car radios, amplifiers, etc.. It's a terrible thing.

Stolen faceplate

the GT-200 is the cheapest of the sony line. A new radio can be obtained for under $50. A faceplate direct from sony would be approximately the same amount. Check eBay or Craigslist for a used one.
