At the point of attachment where the hook is attached to the beater shaft, spray hot soapy water from a window spray bottle on the connection. Very hot water is necessary and eventually the water will seep into the locking space and allow you to twist it off. Repeat several times if it fails the first time around.

After mixing bread dough the mixer head will not tilt up to get the dough out of the bowl

Push the head down before pressing the button on the mystery mixer. There is probably dough under the hook with it pressing the head up and is locking the catch.

You can pull out the dough around the dough hook to make it easier.

Dough hook will not come off

I had the same problem too. There should be maybe 1/4" of loose vertical play of the dough hook (or similar attachment) on the agitator shaft. The hook locks in place rotationally on the shaft until it is pushed up. Before you try to turn the dough hook backwards in an attempt to remove it, push it upwards and hold it up, then rotate.

Dough hook stuck immediately after use

I just got my dough hook unstuck! The problem was the bolt at the top of the dough hook. This bolt is used to adjust the height of the dough hook. This bolt came loose while mixing and went up towards the mixer. The force of the spinning actually tightened this bolt against the mixer so when I tried to release the dough hook by lifting and turning, it wouldn't lift. The bolt was in the way! The solution is to loosen this bolt. You'll need a thin wrench that's about 15 mm. You can test loosening this bolt on the other attachments since they loosen in the same manner. You'll have to bend the white shield down slightly to get the wrench in there. It's a tight squeeze even with a thin wrench. Hold on to the lower end of the dough hook and turn the wrench counterclockwise when looking down at it. Once you loosen the bolt, you'll be able to turn the lower portion of the dough hook to lower it. Then you can lower the bolt further. Once you have them low enough, you can remove the dough hook like normal - lift and turn. Sure beats boxing it up, shipping it for repair and paying for shipping both ways!

My varimixer R30 hook doesn´t seem to reach out far enuff to mix satisfactorily. Can the hook change shape just like that ? Or is the hook for some other kettle ?

This is a dough hook and would typically only be used to knead dough. Therefore, the extra clearance makes sense for kneading dough. For other mixer jobs, use other attachments.

Dry clumps in pizza dough

Hi. You should consider a few things. They type of hook you use, can greatly affect your end result. If you're making a yeasted dough with a high protein percentage 12-13%, you should be using an "ED" hook, this is a spiral hook that has a sharp turn at the tip. You can find them on eBay for a competitive price. I believe that Hobart also sells them, but for a higher price. They are very good for mixing pizza type doughs, they also do an excellent job kneading the dough.

Have you checked the flour for lumps before it goes into the mixer? Have you tried sifting the flour?
Are you adding all the liquid and flour at once? If so try adding flour in stages to all the liquid. If you find that this solution helps you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45
