The MAC address is the unique identifier for your network device. You can try to add the MAC address directly to your WiFi router in case someone turned this feature on you router.

To see your MAC go to "Settings - Wi Fi - Options Button - My MAC address".

I keep on getting an unidentified connection via my Huawei WiFi router with MAC address BC:41:01:4C:CF:89. What does this mean and how do I stop it?

mac address is an unique network device equipment identifier.
How to stop it. Change encryption key when you add wpa or wep encryption to wi fi security on router. Added security - do not broadcast ssid and change it to something different.
All devices with wi fi will need to be changed to match wi fi encryption method and key and ssid name.

I think there are 6 ways (at least?) to connect this printer:
(1) Direct to Mac (or PC) via USB Cable (2) Direct to Mac (or PC) via Ethernet Crossover Cable(3) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC also via Ethernet to router/switch(4) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC via WiFi (802.11 wireless)(5) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC via Ethernet to router/switch(6) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC also via WiFi.
As (1) should be simplest, tried this first. First document would print instantly and completely, next doc would hang in queue with unexpected msg, "Printer is offline." Only way to print 2nd doc was to power cycle (off-on) the printer. This problem occurred whether 2nd doc was sent to printer before or after 1st doc had printed. Tried 2nd USB cable, tried new driver, tried reinstalling printer; same problem. Spoke to both Samsung and Apple support, including both on a conference call; never got this to work and never clarified if problem was in printer hardware/software, driver, or something else. Both companies now showing this issue as unresolved.
Nothwithstanding USB problem, did succeed in modes (4) and (6), although custom wireless config needed since my network does not broadcast SSID and requires an encryption password. Procedure required connecting first via Ethernet, obtaining Configuration Report by holding down orange button for 5 seconds, then using browser to connect to the printer's IP address. Also required different driver for wireless config (as opposed to USB).
Bottom line: What seemed simple - USB direct connect - proved unworkable, but wired and wireless network config works fine.

I have the digiland tablet dl700d(c) and I can't connect to Wi-Fi I called Wi-Fi support they can't help because the mac address keeps changing is anyone else having this problem and what do I do

Hi
I find your question very interesting, and also your WiFi support comment, because in 18 years of IT consultancy and troubleshooting I have never come across a changing mac address.
The mac address is
"a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment. MAC addresses are used as a network address for most IEEE 802 network technologies, including Ethernet and WiFi."
The emphasis here is on "unique" and all network adaptors I have come across - ethernet or WiFi have had a fixed mac address. Are you sure they didn't mean IP address, as this is supplied by the router/access point via a DHCP server, and can change according to the access requirements of the router/access point.
If you go here:
MAC address Wikipedia the free encyclopedia
you can learn a lot more about mac addresses.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

I cant connect to WiFi with my blackberry bold. it shows "Failed to obtain an IP address"

Hi, this issue is caused when message authentication code (MAC) address filtering is enabled on the Wi-Fi network, and the MAC address of the BlackBerry smartphone is not accepted.
To resolve this issue, add the MAC address of the BlackBerry smartphone to the accepted MAC address list for the Wi-Fi network.
I hope this information may help you to resolve the issue.

Problems adding new MAC address

Ok... this is an easy fix..first, turn off all the equipment including any laptops with wi-fi. then TURN ON YOUR MAIN ROUTER FIRST. Secondly turn on the cable modem..be sure its connected to the already turned on router. This will establish the router as your address the cable modem will set up as the main mac address. Then go ahead and boot up any other routers, and computers and wifi... That should keep everything connected because the router will delegate all the addresses to everything and the modem should remain "happy" with the router addres..

Let me know if this helps... and if you need anymore help.

How do i hook a mac to a PC using the D-Link? I need help ASAP!

Hi, basically it really doesn't matter what sort of PC ya using... when ya connect up to the WiFi Router, the PC "Detects the SSID" (An SSID is just a unique name say.. My_WiFi) of said Router, and then with the "Remote" Computer, you simply look for, and then connect to, that network. The DHCP address server in the Router will automatically assign the "Remote" PC a WiFi address.. and from then on it doesn't really matter what any other Operating Systems the PC's are using as you are not actually connecting to them, per se, but rather conecting thru the WiFi Router to the internet. To access other PC's Windows "Files & Data" from a "Mac" & vice versa, is a slightly different matter.. but still easy to set up. The links below will be of assistance to you in setting it all up. www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2002/11/19/mac_pc.html - 26k lifehacker.com/software/networking/connect-your-mac-to-a-windows-network-211108.php The best way to connect up a Modem & separate WiFi Router... is: Connect Modem to Router, Router to A "Main" PC, via Ethernet cable. (Router set to DCHP Server & assign an SSID) All Other PC's connect to the "WiFi Router". After setting up an "Unsecured Network" & when & after, it is all working. THEN one can set up WEP security keys for the WiFi network.
