Try AWCI.com for someone in your area. I recommend a good watchmaker even for a cell replacement, they will usually clean the case and band, do a consumption check, a min run voltage test and a water resistance test and new seals to keep watch fresh.

Brand new watch - received for Christmas, and keeps lossing time

Dear cathy webb,
There could be many reasons for this. Maybe the battery is damaged/old, maybe it has another type of technical problem. Thats why i would suggest to you the same thing that i would do; send it to a repair shop. It usually costs between 7-15 US dollars to get it fixed, and it can usually be done for a couple of hours. As i see you have received this watch as a gift. Have you received the whole box including warranty card and the purchase receipt? In case you have received those, you could try and retrieve the watch to an official CK dealer, and maybe they will give you a new one or repair it for free. CK watch warranties are for one year and your watch is still covered by it (assuming it was purchased less than 1 year ago). I am not aware from what country you are, but some of the official CK Watch stores can be contacted here: http://www.calvinkleininc.com/watchesandjewelry/stores.aspx
Hope i could help, Regards

Speak to your supplier in the first instance and see if they will arrange for repair (have you got any proof of purchase?).

If they say you must send it back to the maker, be sure that you have a proof of purchase, so that they know that it is still within the warrranty period. If you have lost your receipt, ask your supplier for a duplicate.

mcdevito75 here, One year old, most likely the factory Battery and at 1 year old the battery is old, who knows how long the battery was in the watch before you bought it 1 year ago?? The battery is the first suspect. Look for a small watch repair shop in your area for a new battery first.

Hi, I gave my husband a cartier Panther about 7 years ago and he totally hates the watch because it never works. We have taken it to get checked out at jewelry stores but the people always tell us is the...

The most reliable solution is to send it back to Cartier.

They pride themselves on quality and if you complain loud enough, they may jump into action, although if you had batteries put in by anyone but one of their approved dealers, they may prove difficult.

(If it has a balance wheel, then it sounds like a mechanical adjustment may be all that is needed).

We bought the Fossil Brown rectangle watch model FS4284, it stopped working so thought it was the battery. we replaced the battery and then 2 months later it's not working again, faulty battery or is...

  • Change the battery. If your watch stops ticking, chances are the watch is not broken and the battery simply needs to be replaced. You can purchase a watch battery at your local department store or drugstore. Use the screwdriver to pry the back off the watch and place the new battery in the same place where the old one fit.
  • Step 2 If your watch is still not working, determine the problem. If you can hear the watch ticking but the hands are not moving, there may be a gear stuck inside. If only one of the hands does not move, the hand itself could be broken. Once you determine the problem, you can see whether it makes more sense to purchase a new watch or get the old one fixed.
  • Step 3 Check your watch warranty. If your Fossil watch came with a warranty that is not yet expired, Fossil will fix your watch if you send it to the company and pay for shipping and handling. See the "Resources" section below to fill out the Watch Repair Form provided by Fossil.com. If your watch strap is broken, however, Fossil will charge you a fee as broken straps are not covered in the warranty.
  • Step 4 Check a competing local watch repair store. There are watch repair stores located all over the United States that will repair a Fossil watch if your watch is no longer under warranty or if you do not want to pay the shipping and handling to send the watch to Fossil's watch repair department. Although the watch repair store may not have the exact strap you are looking for, it may offer a replacement strap that is similar to the one that originally came with your watch.
  • Step 5 Return the watch to the store where you bought it. If you purchased a Fossil watch that was broken when you purchased it or broke recently after you brought it home, you may be able to return the watch for a refund or store credit. Check with the store's policy before purchasing the watch if you are concerned about returns.

Quest watch-bought refurb'd from Zales. Seems to stop once in a while or when sudden hard movements. After pressing the chronograph buttons sometimes several times it starts again. is this normal? First...

Mechanical watches are very good today - I remember when a new technology called "Shock Resistant" came into vogue many years ago. This "feature" is rarely spoken of today. Your Quest should be shock resistant - which has nothing to do with electricity - but it is not 'bullet proof'.

Please take it back to Zales for inspection.

Contratulations on your purchase of this expensive time piece.

this does not sound indicative of citizen watches...they usually have great movements. A new watch movement might be $100 when shipped back; I had a Kenneth Cole that cost $60 to get a new watch battery and link removed. Check with them, or on the internet; there are tons of e-tailers that sell used or new movements. Buy it and take it to a GOOD watch repair shop. Most shops have the tools but little knowhow so check around. they should be able to drop it in with little hassle, otherwise my recommendation is to go to Zales and pick up a preowned watch for $60...I got a beautiful Calibre 2100 for $105!

How do change a battery of a watch?

If you do not have the proper tools,(proper tools are recommended) and depending on the type of backing, this may help you :

    1. Locate a very small tab (or recessed area) on the edge of the back cover. This is the access point for removal.
    2. Get a kitchen knife with a rigid blade. It doesn't have to be razor sharp, it only needs to be inflexible. You can also use a small fine screwdriver.
    3. Very carefully slide the blade under the tiny metal protrusion on the back cover (or across the length of the recessed area, depending on which type of cover your watch has). Do not attempt to insert the point of the knife. Use the length of the blade.
    4. Get under the tab or recessed area and gently but firmly turn the blade upward, popping the cover off.
    5. Locate your battery(Small round disc type) remove and check the numbers on it. Go to most any local dept. stores (Wal Mart, Target, Radio Shack, etc.) and purchase same.
    6. Install battery with numbers up.
    7. Place cover over watch, and snap back into place.
Hope this helps. If not, please let me know and I will get back to you.
