My GE Spacemaker dryer will run but the washer will not start in any cycle (stacked unit)

Model number wsm2420taacc. checked continuity on the lid switch and pressure switch, also checked for clogs going between pressure switch and wash tub. capacitor will charge when unit is plugged in so I thought it was the timer. replaced the timer and still nothing. I know from calling ge's answer center that this is a unit from the early 2000's but she told me I would have to call a service tech. not very helpful

Can you post the scematic for this unit?

  • Fix-R-Up Mar 14, 2014

The link above is for parts but I would need the electrical schematic. It's usually folded up and placed inside the top control panel.

It looks serious problem. You should go to your nearest repairer to solve the problems if you don't want to stay without your washer.

lincoln, there should be two clips on each side just below the top. Take a puddy knife and push in on the clips. The front panel should release and pull foward. Catriver..post back.

try replacing your water selenoid coming in. remember it isnt a mechanical timer it is a computerized timer, so if the selenoid isnt the problem, it might be the computerized timer. computers are very finicky, pain in the a- -!

1989 (?) GE Spacemaker washer in a park model trailer has a cracked plastic air pressure tank. No model # on washer, how do i get parts.

You do need the model number to order parts...typically on a stacked unit the model number is inside the dryer door

I bought a used stacked washer /dryer. I hooked it up likea standard 220 dryer. Has the standard dryer plug in. Would not run start or hum in 20 mode. Checked the wiring. looks like it was wired for 110,...

All standard dryer motors run on 120V. Its the heater that uses 240. Its possible to wire a dryer for 120V operation and it will appear to run ok but it won't heat efficiently and it will take several cycles to get the clothes dry. Sounds like you have a mechanical problem with the motor.

i had something similar, did the cleaning and double checked to make sure all the wiring was hooked up and not frayed. i then "jiggled" (technical term) the dryer door button and some sand came out. it has been working ever since.
