It's possible the stations you have in your area

have switched from UHF to VHF or vise-versa

I had the same problem and have lost one channel completely

You didn't clarify if your using an antenna or

cable qam so I assumed you are using antenna.

Youll need to check your antenna to see if it

supports both UHF vhf if it only supports one

that could be your problem .

go to antennaweb.org it will help you determine

what stations are avalible to you .

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

No 5.1 surround when adding a Philips upconvert player to the San

Sounds like you are getting analog signals from your componet cables and a true digital input from your HDMI into your tv.

However that unit is Analog audio input x 1 only.
So i dont think your going to get true digital surround sound.
The problem being

Sanyo =

Inputs: Analog Audio x 1 Outputs: Composite x 1 · S-Video x 1 · Component x 1 · Digital Audio Coaxial x

Trouble receiving local channels on TV using new Magnavox converter box

Your digital converter box probably does not have an analog pass through that allows the old analog channels to go through to the tv's analog tuner.

Digital or Analog>

I believe this tv has a built in digital tuner. To verify this, using your remote attempt to change the channel to say 3-1 or 3.1 if you have a digital tuner this is how a digital channel will show up. Also if you go into your menu under channel scan you should see a choice named dtv. And finally on the back you will have a coax connecter named dtv. The latter is not always true. If it does turn out to be standard format tv, you can still purchase a digital set-top box that will decode digital for you. Keep in mind that you must have a good uhf off air signal in your area to recieve digital signals. Good luck.
