SOURCE: Speedometer/odometer not working, can I get troubleshooting info?

you mean all lights work but speed needle don't move, its a cable problem, maybe broken or come loose from speedo. remove 3 hex screws from chrome trim on gas tank and see if it has come unscrewed, if not undo it and spin front wheel and see if the end of cable turns, it should unless its broken.

SOURCE: No electrical power

well i would make sure all ground from battery are tight and clean then check pos cable to be tight if they seem to be good the make sure you have 12 volts or more at battery then on that model the ignition is on the tank the ignition very common to go out if it is the type on the tank you may need to pull cover on tank to get to ignition to test very simple to remove cover and test the wire make sure you getting voltage when you but it to start some time wiggling switch you can get it to work hope this help

SOURCE: 1993 Harley Sportster 883 Batt.

You've already spotted the problem. 13.5 volts is not enough to keep the battery charged. It will slowly lose it's charge. You should be charging at 14.5-15.0 volts.

Check your regulator output. Look just behind the base of the rear cylinder and you'll see the wires coming out of the primary that go to the regulator. There's a plug in the line somewhere. Unplug it. You'll be measuring the output of the alternator so you'll be dealing with the wire on the alternator end of the plug. There are two metal contacts in the plug. You'll need a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) to do this test. Set the meter's function selector switch to AC VOLTS, 50 VOLTS or greater. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. Insert one meter lead into each metal contact. It make no difference which lead goes where as you're measuring AC voltage. Your meter should read at least 25 volts or higher. If not, your stator is bad.

If you read 25 volts or more, your regulator needs replacing.

Good Luck
steve

BTW: Early 1984 was the last year for a generator on the Sportster. Late 1984 to present, the bikes have alternators on them. Much better than the old generators. Much better.

Does the lights indicators light on when charging battery my ion block rocker bluetooth portable sound system being off

that is the most confusing piece of written English I have seen for a long time :>D

If you mean 'does a light stay on when I am charging'? The answer is yes. Here is your manual answer.

Charging Indicator: With the battery charging indicator, when the power cable is connected, movement of the top battery segment shows the battery is charging. When fully charged, all battery segments will be lit without blinking. When the power cable is disconnected, the battery segment shows the level of the battery.

Harley troubleshooting

Sorry but I do not have expertise to adequately advise you on a bike of this vintage but I gather that it is not uncommon for these hoses to leak. Check the oil separation devices in the rocker boxes, check that you do not have oil right up to the full line, better at about the halfway mark. Please post your answer as a comment once you get one that is definitive and works for your question. Thanks.

Your first stop should be to AmericanSportbike.com, they sell the service manual, and possibly the gaskets too (Might need to call). Changing the gasket isn't hard, it will just be time consuming with all the disassembly, and the service manual will make sure you do it correctly. Good luck!

Storing 2006 HD 1200 XL Custom for the winter. I have it hooked up to battery tender. Periodically I will take it off the tender when indicator light turns green, indicating battery is fully charged. ...

yes, the charge will bleed off just a bit in two or three days, just enough to reset the battery tender. it shouldn't take but a few minutes before the battery is again "topped off" and the green light comes on. But keep in mind that even with a battery tender, age will eventually get to your battery and it'll go bad. The battery tender extends the life of a battery but it can't extend it forever.

Battery light 4 times is red and one time green in all the time

the battery LED is indicating an internal battery failure. While the battery may still work, the LED indication will not change until you replace the failing battery. It can be an indication of a Failed Cell, low voltage etc. Something in the battery is no longer meeting specification and that triggers the LED indication.
