is this a new ink cartridge? have you tried replacing the inks with a genuine one? because these inks have independent printer heads. if the inks are defective that would be the case for it
The "Ink system failure" error is caused by air in the ink feed tubes, this happens if you use poorly filled cartridges or allow you cartridge to run all the way out. We have a step by step guide to purge the ink feed tubes posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ This should get your printer back going in about 10 minutes.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
Clean all cartridges to make sure ink is flowing. To do this put windoww cleaner ino a container about ten mm deep. Put the cartridges with the end where the ink comes out facing down into the container and soak for about ten minutes. After this dry off for with a paper towell and make sur each cartridge leaks color into the towell. may take a little shaking.
Please follow the instructions below to ensure correct installation:
Lower the printer's output tray and open the top cover.
Connect the power cable to the printer.
And switchon the printer.
The print heads will now move to the replacement position. If they do not move to a change position press the Red ink button on the printer.
Lift up the ink cartridge clamps.
Before you open the new ink cartridge package, shake it four or five times. Then remove it from the package.
Do not touch the green chip on the side of the cartridge. This can damage the ink cartridge.
Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge.
You must remove the
yellow tape from the cartridge before installing it; otherwise, print
quality may decline or you may not be able to print.
If you have installed an ink cartridge without removing the yellow
tape, take the cartridge out of the product remove the yellow tape, and
then reinstall it.
Do not remove the transparent seal from the bottom of the cartridge
or the label on the cartridge; otherwise the cartridge may become
unusable or ink will leak.
Place the ink cartridge into the cartridge holder with the bottom down. Then push down the ink cartridge until it clicks into place.
Repeat steps 4 to 6 for each ink cartridge.
Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place
If you find it difficult to close the cartridge cover, make sure all the cartridges are firmly seated. Press down on each cartridge until you hear it click into place. Do not attempt to force the cover closed.
Close the printer cover and press the ink or start button to begin charging the system. Charging can take up to three minutes and is complete when the power light stops flashing.
While the ink system is charging do not switch off the printer.
Step1 If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material. Step 2 Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic. Step 3 If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path. Step 4 If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.
Based on the lights you are already out of one or more ink cartridge or an ink cartridge is not being recognized/expended.
-You cannot print if any ink cartridge is expended. -Leave the empty cartridge installed in the printer until you have obtained a replacement.
Once you start the ink cartridge replacement procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session.
1. Open the printer cover and press the INK REPLACEMENT button, located under the printer's cover. The print head moves to the center and the lights flash.
2. Lift up the ink cartridge clamp. The cartridge rises up from its holder.
3. Remove the cartridge and dispose of it carefully. If ink gets on your hands, wash them with soap and water. If ink gets in your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
4. Unpack the new ink cartridge and remove the yellow tape. You must remove the yellow tape from the top of the cartridge. Do not remove the clear seal underneath the cartridge. Do not touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, or you may inhibit normal operation and printing.
5. Tilt the new cartridge toward you slightly as you insert it. Lower the cartridge so that the tabs rest on the hooks. Do not place the cartridge tabs under the hooks. . 6. Press down firmly on the ink cartridge clamp until it snaps in place.

9. Wait until ink charging is finished (the power light stops flashing and the red error light goes out).
