the windows operating system needs to be reinstalled... if it continues then its a hard drive issue use an ubuntu live cd to back up documents you need from the hard drive
When you say "screen goes black," does the computer power down, or is it still operating? Does the sleep light come on? Does it respond to the keyboard and mouse? (Example: press the power button momentarily, wait a few seconds for the "Do you really want to shut down" message to appear, even though you can't see it, then hit the return key to answer "OK," and see if it shuts down.) Does the screen go black or come out of black if you tap the computer?
While your computer is working, go to System Preferences / Desktop & Screen Saver, the Screen Saver tab, click Hot Corners, and set a corner of your screen to Put Display to Sleep. Then next time your screen goes black, mouse your way into that corner, pause a few seconds, then mouse back out and see if your screen returns.
Found this on the Web. If you find this helpful, pls rate me. Shut down and again start your computer....press F8 while it is starting it will take it to safe mode Then, please perform the steps below. To use the System Restore Wizard, make sure you're logged on as an administrator, and then follow these steps: 1.Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
2.On the Welcome screen, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.
3. On the Select a Restore Point page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, and then click Next. This should solve your issue but this will disable your latest downloads. Good Luck...
Try going into safe mode upon startup by hitting the F8 button. If it does then hit safe mode to get into your computer. Go to start>accessories>system tools>system restore. Follow the wizard to restore your computer to a date earlier than when you started having problems. Let me know if you have any problems or questions.
Hello,
I'm sorry to say this but your hard drive may be faulty and need a replacement. Your files might still be retrievable but you will need to take it to a repair center to get it retrieved or plug it as an external hard drive and try to retrieve data yourself. But nevertheless, it seems like your hard drive gave in and will need to be replaced with a new one..
Your power-inverter board needs an overhaul.
Probably in need of the standard capacitor replacement.
OR
a bulb in the screen is bad (a bad bulb will usually show symptoms)
It will flicker, or will look pinkishish for a bit or dark in the middle top or bottom of the screen.

Maybe the setting of your video display was change to higher setting, and your screen cannot handle the said setting.
When a "safe mode" message appears during opeing, select that options, then at the desktop right click your mouse, chose properties, then setting, then change the screen resolution to lower range.
