Whenever the gas is on the burners pop. It does not matter if they are wet or not. They always pop.
You didn't mention if it only pops when you first turn them on or that the popping is continuous.
If it when you first turn them on, then I would suspect late ignition. Too much gas build-up before ignition takes place. The spark gap may need to be adjusted or the spark module replaced.
If it happens continuously there may be a short in one of the switches or wiring harness.
