Touch pad and ice maker not working - Whirlpool ET1FHTXM Top Freezer Refrigerator

Check the plastic lever on the door. It usually moves closed when the door is shut to turn ice maker on. The lever can freeze and stop the ice maker.

What is the complete model number of your unit?

look on the internet they might help you , type in the info you have about it.

Is the display flashing when you try and use it or can you hear the dispenser door opening and closing rapidly (clicking or clapping sound)? These are prone to the board going bad and losing the dispenser. Is the "ice" light lit on the dispenser? The touch pad could be bad too. Do you hear the auger motor turning the ice when you press the dispenser? or just the "shhhhhhh" of the water coming out?

If there is ice in the bucket then that is not the problem. Dump it and listen if you hear new ice drop to verify.

There is no such part called an "ice element". Ice maker-yes.. Heating element-yes.. Ice dispenser-yes

The front touch pad board /panel which you are referring is called dispenser board.To access the dispenser board assembly, click this link below:---

Sounds like someone accidentally locked you out. If you see a RED light lit above the touch pad.

To Lock Out Press the LOCK Touch Pad for 3-5 seconds. A Red light will appear above

the Touch Pad.

To Unlock

Press the LOCK Touch Pad for 3-5 seconds until the Red light above the

Touch Pad goes out.

Other possibilities:

Household water line valve is not open. -open valve

Freezer door is not closed-Close door tight

Ice & water filter cartridge is clogged-replace filter
Front filter not fully installed, if equipped-Push filter until you hear a CLICK. filter should be FLUSH with cabinet

Sounds like the touch pad has a jammed button or is shorted , if it dose not release by depressing a few times firmly, the touch pad on the door may have to be replaced. The temperature problem may be unrelated or the ice maker door flap may be remaining open lowering the temperature. Hope this helps.

Change water valve one side feeds ice other water in the door.

Yes you will need to take the screws that mount the Ice maker to the side of the freezer and unplug the cable plug that is hidden behind the back of ice maker. The only time that element is needed to become hot is the moments before the ice maker drops ice. Thanks, Sea Breeze
