Rgrgrgrobert,

Very good question.

ACK is actually one of the more self-explanatory acronyms in the Information Technology industry. It simply refers to "acknowledgment".

In your case, your logs are stating that your router is sending an acknowledgment to your wii's IP address to verify that it is present on the network. This will occur with any information exchange between your wii and the rest of your network. ACK is an integral part of the TCP/IP protocol, and is used in any exchange of data, regardless of whether a router logs it or not.

FYI: When posting any questions with your network, the information you want to keep private is anything that can be seen by the public (example: public IP addresses/domain names). Your wii's IP address in this case is most likely private (example: 192.168.0.x, or 10.1.1.x) and therefor inaccessible by the public, hence not a security risk.

Hope this helps! :)

PS: You can read up more on ACK and how it is implemented by the TCP/IP protocol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACK_(TCP)

Configuring a 3COM 3CRWDR200A-75 router as a repeater

SETTING A ROUTER AS A REPEATER 1. Connect your computer to the repeater router's RJ45 port with a LAN cable. 2. Open a browser, then enter the router's URL configuration's IP address, This is usually something similar to 192.168.0.1 3. Enter the configuration user name and password. The router will display the various router settings. 4. Go to the page that changes the IP address of the router. Changed the IP address so that it is not the same as the main router on the network, or any other network devices. If the main router on the network is set to 192.168.1.1 then the repeater router should use a higher number (ie. 10), such as 192.168.1.10 or higher, depending on how many devices are on your network. 5. Disable the repeater router's DHCP server. This setting should be on the same page as the IP address, (this may be different depending on the make of the router). When the main router is operating normally, this server assigns an IP address to every device that is connected to your network. Because this router is used as a repeater, the main router on your network will still issue the IP addresses. 6. Also turn off the DNS server, if it is activated. This function will be taken over by the main router. 7. Disable any firewall settings on the repeater router. This is usually in the "Security" section, depending on the make and model of your router. 8. Remove all in the "Port Forwarding" section. Some routers may refer to this as "Applications and Gaming," and it allows less-restricted access to the internet. 9. Set the operating mode switch to "Gateway" or "Switch" if applicable. Also, if the repeater router is a wireless router then disable the wireless access or set it to access point only. 10. Save the settings for each page, and reboot the router. When the router boots up, the changes will allow it to act as a simple repeater. 11. Now, place the repeater router in a new location and connect both routers with a Ethernet cable in each of the router's RJ45 LAN ports, and power it up both routers.

Can not find ip address on richo 1035. I tried to connect my richo 1035 with computers through internet. I did all to change ports on printer properties section. I am putting ip address of my service...

Connect the machine to a router or a switch with a network cable.
In used mode, under network settings - set the machine to DHCP, so it will get an IP adress from the switch/router.
Print out a network status page, and see if you've got an IP adress.

In the command window on your PC type: ipconfig/all and see the IP adress of your computer. Compare it to the adress the machine got from the router/switch and see if they are almost identical apart from the last digits.

Install the driver, and install the printer using device name, and you should be good to go. Or you can set the IP you got from the switch/router as a static adress, and install the copier using the IP adress.

Hi! I tried to access to my Zyxel p660hw d1 with the common 192.168.1.1. ip adress in internet explorer, but it doesn't seem to find the router log in page... Ho can i access to it then?

Be sure that your router adress is 192.168.1.1 you can use winipcfg in windows (the gateway address is what you are looking for) to see if its the good adress.

If its not working use another browser, simply restart the router or Hard Reset the router with a paper clip.

Laptop running 0n win 7 wont connect to router

1. you will have to designate the laptop or allow it to connect by entering it into the 3com router.
2. try connecting to the router via ethernet cord (that is connecting with a physical straight through cord) that came with the router.
If connected with this then you will have to go into the router via the IP set 192.168..0.1 depending on the router ip for loging in.
2. Go to the "wireless setup" and enter your MAC address for the laptop in the permissions list in the router. Instructions on how to do this is at the manufacturers site. Step by step.
3. Do the following step if instructions not found.
1.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP adresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

Im trying to get my ps3 connected to my router wireless.. however when i entered the only 2 codes on the router, it would not obtain my ip adress. so it fails the attemp. HOW DO I FIND THE CORRECT WPA...

You can check the passphrase when you access the router page:
  • Open a Web browser and type http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254; the 2Wire Home page opens.
  • Click the Home Networking tab at the top of the 2Wire Home page.
  • Click on Wireless Settings. then click EDIT SETTINGS located on the right panel.
  • Here you will be able to fine the setting for your wireless connection
  • You can change the SSID, Wireless Channel, Wireless Security, and Network Key
  • If the Wireless Security Key uses the default, the Passphrase is the 10 digits located underneath the router under the S/N.
Thanks for using Fixya.
